GR - "The rating increase is widely attributed to Sony's plan to launch the PlayStation 4 at the end of 2013."
PlayStation 4 the Win !
There's a bit more going on too man. Selling unprofitable divisions and buildings; a great selling smartphone; Sony is just making good calls across the board. But... okay. You're right. An awesome next-gen console, loved by developers and fans, probably won't hurt. :-D
Kaz is really making some strong and aggressive moves. I hope he continues :)
End of 2013, Christmas and Holidays... best time to release the PS4 Best Christmas gift someone could have asked for
Sony's on a role. I will be buying a PS4, and I would like to buy the Xperia ZL whenever it happens to come to Canada. Heck, I might even buy the Xperia Tablet Z next holiday season also.
my laptop is sony vaio my tablet is sony xperia tablet s my phone is sony xperia Z my tv is sony bravia 3D ( 50' i guess ) my sound theater is sony 7.1 ps1 ps2 ps3 psp ps vita and the game inside the ps3 is sonic generations LONG LIVE Sega and Sony my childhood friends LOL
With 4 disagrees! Even the trolls are helping!
it's like they think agrees/disagrees system will change the facts that system is as broken as hell
wasn't the same thing said about PS Vita vs 3DS oh right. How about you let a 1 year play off before calling PS4 the Win.
No Kaz ftw!!
Since I watch the markets, it was the Xperia Z's sell-out sales, Sony's rating upgrade from neutral to buy, Ps4 announcement and the sale of real-estate that sent Sony's stock soaring (12%) in the last week. Sony is still floundering financially but investors are starting to see hope for Sony as each division is slowly crawling back towards the green. Who knows? We must just see a come-back in comparison with Apple.
Are they really at buy? Wow, wasnt long ago they were at junk.
You are thinking of Fitch's downgrading of Sony's credit rating. Fitch is not the the only credit rater, Diawa Securities changed Sony's credit rating from neutral to buy.
Yeap, glad I got in when the shares hit the low teens.
Its really only going up because of the devalue of the yen....
You really have to give Kaz props. Good job so far. They just need arcade like games. They really should tap that GOd of war talent.
thanks for the knowledge. you can have more bubbles
That's just aw...wait, I don't have any Sony stock. Why do I care? Edit: Oh so they're back to healthy. Well good. As long as they keep making games I really don't mind though.
Exactly, these people care about stock prices too much. Some people just love licking corporatist toe cap.
The power of Kaz.
All hail the mighty Kaz for he is savior of Sony! Anyone got a Kazified Pope?
Kaz The Almighty! http://i.imgur.com/kAFJ6YB....
Sony keep it going!!! I want to be buying Sony consoles long into my older years (im 34 now) because i plan to be gaming until i die.
Say welcome to the new master race. The GLOORRIOUS PS Gaming Master Race.
I want a Xperia Z now that i know the S4 looks so incredibly cheap. Good for Sony they are turning the ship around. With PS4 they are doing everything right so far and gathering alot of indie support for psn GDC should be intrestng.
Wow... everywhere I see people disappointed in the S4. A big shame... I really like that series of phones. The Xperia Z did peak my interest since its announcement though
I'm glad Sony have got their game back together with the phones. The Xperia Z looks so nice, I wish I was eligible to upgrade to it. I saw it in the shop the other day and its beautiful, the screen is so good. I liked Sony phones in the past, I'll definitely check out Sonys phones again in the future. Glad it's selling well
Kaz is the man great job Sony glad to see them doing good!
Can't wait to get my hands on a PS4.
all for the win! good job guys! Xperia Z is sooo HOT.
Strange that people are jumping on the Xperia Z and didn't get the Xperia TL. It's basically the same phone. I love my TL.
@WeAreLegion I almost upgraded to the T (here in Europe) at the end of last year but held off when rumours of the z began.
I think Sony finally has its mojo back. I picked up the xperia z phone recently and it's a real peach. Tablet z hopefully later this year.
Really surprised that the Xperia is doing so well in Japan. I hope that success continues, because I'd like a vibrant Android ecosystem. I tried watching the Samsung Galaxy S4 launch yesterday - completely embarrassingly disastrous. Sure the phone is good, but they hid it beneath the most hideously tastelessly offensive stage show. So I'm going to get the Nexus 4. Maybe Sony could produce the next Nexus if they get their stuff together.
I knew kaz would bring Sony back. He did an amazing job as CEO of Sony computer entertainment for many years which is why ps was so successful and now that he's in control of the whole company, only good things will continue. Go Sony!!!
This is a huge lie. Their stocks are currently trading at $17. That's up from $15 a couple of weeks ago. Thats not a huge increase at all. This is deliberate misinformation. The increase was caused by the sale of their Tokyo headquarters, along with the sale of their 13% stake in DeNa. Sony's total liabilities are still massive and the company, which hasn't seen a profit since 2008, is not expected to return to profitability until 2014. Also, here's what really happened after the PS4 reveal. http://www.escapistmagazine...
Actually, I've been considering buying some and selling after it skyrockets post-PS4 release now that it's so cheap. As of about yesterday it was floating around 15 per share. I predict, based on projections (i.e. guessing) from their previous share prices back in 2006 and earlier during PS2 era, that Sony stock will more than double by PS4 release, or soon after. Perhaps triple. Sony Stock Prices: http://www.google.com/finan... http://markets.ft.com/resea... So an increase of about 2 dollars per share in a few days... looks like a good sign to me.
And you're basing that assumption on what? Give us the hard data to back your claims.
@ MultiConsoleGamer Um, just click on the links and check the stock prices back to like, 5 years and 10 years. You can see the spikes for yourself (don't be put off by the fact though that the overall stock value today is miniscule by comparison, it's the jumps in value that should be of most interest to you as a prospective buyer). I'm no broker, just an "educated" gamer looking at what appears to be a series of obvious trends.
I guess your multiple consoles are 360 and Wii, given your propensity for bashing Sony. By the way, going up $2 is a 13% increase, which is pretty damn good, PERIOD. Maybe you're a little slow with your comprehension, but the article states that more than JUST the PS4 announcement is responsible; even the title doesn't say SOLELY attribute the improvement to the PS4. One more thing: Sony's liabilities lie heavily in things that are EXPECTED to be liabilities, such as banking and insurance. I mean, their list of holdings and subsidiaries is long and varied as hell( http://en.wikipedia.org/wik... From batteries(among the three largest makers in Japan) to chemical products to life insurance to movies to music to... well, you get the picture. Microsoft? Almost ALL software. ( http://en.wikipedia.org/wik... Sorry, but there's NO COMPARISON. And Nintendo? ALL gaming. But why am I telling you all this? You're just trolling, anyway.
this guy is turning things around.. I knew he would since his promo
