Literally nothing is known about Valve’s Source 2 engine at this time, besides a general tentative knowledge that it might be in the works. “Might” was the operative word for a while, but a recent tidbit may be a confirmation.
Ultimateton if true.
Will the source 2 engine be used to make COD? I didn't like HL2 it had bad game physics.
I don't believe Source 2 would be used for CoD. You didn't like HL2 because of the physics!?
Wat are you smoking? HL2 set the bar for physics...when the game came out, the phsyics were jaw dropping...and even for today still holds some of the best physics considering how little the game taxes your system.... pfft comments like these should end in capital punishment lol
Gabe will eat you for that comment.
That's ridiculous, I'll have you know that -- !! Oooooohhh, "scumbag-steve". .........brilliant comment!
You sir, are master class troll. *tips hat*
You must be one of those "hardcore COD gamers"
If you were trolling for disagrees, you won!
WTF did you do to get Terminated From Valve! The Place is like Happy Time, it's Day Care for Gaming Adults and you got Terminated? Tom must have been the idiot walking around with the Half Life 3 T-shirt.
Might? Gabe Newell has already confirmed they are working on the next source engine months ago when 4chan members visited Valve for Gabe's birthday.
Yeah we have known for awhile that Source 2 is coming. The thing I wanna know...Is Half-life 3 being developed along side Source 2? Cause that would be awesome.
I can almost guarantee it. I wouldn't be surprised if they used Half-Life 3 as a selling point for their Steam Box launch.
Valve hasn't confirmed or denied anything related to HL3. Which tells me 2 things: 1. Its an important enough comment to warrant such an information blackout. 2. They haven't denied it. Add to that Source 2 and voila, HL3 in development. That's my theory anyway. TheFamous1: Steambox is just a PC and HL3 will almost certainly be multi platform. Steambox won't be a separate thing, just a mini PC. And its a ways off.
This is old news, it was posted before.. However, really looking forward to Source 2 and i will upgrade to the best single graphics card available to hopefully play it 60+fps at 1080p. Can't wait to see what they've done with the physics, also Left 4 Dead 3.. drool. Half Life 3 will really put consoles in their place once this is revealed on PC, going to be like 2004 all over again, except even more awesome!. The bad thing is that there was a 6 year gap between the first HL and HL2.. including work on the engine, so i wonder if it will take them another 6 years to make a new engine plus HL3? unless they have a bigger dev team now it could be done sooner, i'm not sure how long it takes to develop an engine but going by standard game development time i would have to say it can't be far off done now?. Maybe 2-3 years for the game alone? if true we might not even see anything until 2015-2016.
It's been over six years, I'm sure they've been working on it for years now.
IMO, what seems to have happen is development was stopped for some reason. There was like 2 or 3 concepts released some years ago, then nothing. There were some more concepts leaked a year or 2 ago (though I don't know how "official" they were) and that has been it. Then Gabe confirmed Source 2 was in development. HL3 is the flagship franchise for Valve and its development is the best kept secret in gaming history. Its not as if people forgot all about it and weren't actively searching for info on it. Point is, you got to really, REALLY, want to keep that secret. And have good reason for doing so. My guess is the reason has something to do with the leak of HL2, which was a pretty big deal on a personal level with the team that worked on it. As to when we might see something. I would bet this year or next year we get an announcement and that it will be a good ways in to its development. I am really interested to hear what happened during its development.
