Gearbox: No Connection Between Borderlands 2 Level Cap Increase and New Character DLC

RipTen writes: "Some fans are upset that the new character DLC is not a part of the season pass they already paid for, and when rumors started swirling that the character DLC may be tied to a new level cap increase, torches and pitchforks started flying off the shelves faster than AC units in the month of July. Well, thanks to a recent tweet by Gearbox, at least a few angry fans can start laying down their arms." (Borderlands 2, Gearbox, PS3, Xbox 360)

Good news!

Partially good news only because the character DLC is still not going to be included in the season pass.

They said all along that the characters wouldn't be included, so why is this an issue?

I am eagerly awaiting the fourth DLC pack for Borderlands 2, and I was one of many who was concerned about the level cap costing extra. Glad to hear that this is not the case.

I don't see why they don't keep new characters for the next game...unless they are going to use the old vault hunters <SPOILERS>.....after that ending when the three of them are looking at the map they seemed interested to go vault hunting again.

Thats fine with me because I really wanted to play Lilith again.

It seems the three vault hunters from the first game have something new about them. Brick has a new melee weapon, Lilith has new powers and Mordecai has a new bloodwing probably with new tricks.

The Borderlands 2 Characters can become NPC's like lilith for Borderlands 3 xD
Root  +   721d ago
Thats what I was thinking

They said Lilith and co became NPCs so you can learn about their past and give them character development but to be honest we didn't really learn much about them still.

I think Gearbox were too lazy to do character development and have them as a main character. I mean it's not that hard....Gordon Freeman for example has a backstory and character development while being the main character and he never speaks.

ALl they have to do is do one unique mission for each character that expands on their past.

wait... didn't they say that a level cap increase wouldn't happen because it would break the game?

i guess my lazy dev suspicion was right afterall.

Am I the only one thinking this is bullshit that the newer additions with the characters aren't included in the season pass? I mean what the fuck did I buy it for then?

Uuuuummmmm, 4 campaign DLC's maybe?

All this says is that the new character and level cap increase are separate. It doesn't say that the lvl cap increase won't come with an additional dlc package that you pay for beyond the fourth dlc that is included with the season pass. If Gearbox thinks for a second that they can get away with it, they will gladly make people pay for the level cap increase. Had the Alien games not been such a huge controversy they wouldn't hesitate to make you pay for it.
