Shigeru Miyamoto has said that Nintendo struggle with the design of Link when creating new Zelda games.
"What style Link is going to appear in" is pretty vague. At first I laughed because I thought they were referring to fashion--85% of Link's outfit never changes. But if he's referring to graphical style, that does change quite a bit. My personal favorite is the look of Hyrule in Twilight Princess.
but it does change. The general idea of a green tunic and brown boots stays but the designs are completely different sometimes. Not to mention extra armors like the ones in Twilight Princess.
only cause each game in tied to a timeline. The controls that every Link wears comes from Skyloft. Ocarina of Time and Twilight Princess Link where Skyward Sword Link's Hero clothes. Only for it easier age in TP and cleaned in OoT.
That tech demo was the only thing that could have gotten me to purchase an entire console. Knowing that it won't look anything like it means I will probably never buy a WiiU. I hope that the game is still fantastic for the WiiU owners, though.
Yeah, that tech demo was awesome. They've had so much positive response from people, I don't understand why they just don't go for it, and make the next Zelda like the tech demo. I bought a Wii U day 1 on the potential of HD Zelda and Metroid games... maybe I should have waited, but it's too late now. I'm gonna ride it out and see what comes.
If instead of going with a style similar to that Wii U tech demo and go for goddamn cell-shading again, I'm gonna lose it.
I don't think they will go with a cell shaded style for the new Zelda, because WW HD remake is already cell shaded, so it would be to much to have two games that look similar. Just a tought.
That's my view on it as well. Although the core gameplay elements of every Zelda game are obviously "Zelda" they like to mix-up the graphical style a bit so I very much doubt the new Zelda (not WWHD) will have the cell-shaded look. Sure it might not have the Zelda demo style either. Hell, this is Nintendo so don't rule out any style from stick men to film noir :D
well they were testing some assets or whatnot on the windwaker hd game, clearly it wont look anything like that entirely but we might see some similiaritys
I thought the whole reason they started making WW HD was because it was similar to the style they wanted for the next game and practice with its assets, and after awhile just decided to completely remake it and release it to the public in the mean time. That's what I got from the Nintendo video reveal at least.
Didn't they say they were going with the style we saw in Skyward Sword for the next Zelda game.....shame because I'd rather have the one in the tec demo or even the darker ton Twilight Princess gave us Skyward Sword was the worst main title Zelda game for me...
shame u didnt like it its my second favourite of them all
I just couldn't....it was boring, repetitive and a step back for the franchise. I honestly bought into the hype with these perfect review scores flying around then I was totally let down by it. I didn't feel like there was enough freedom while playing Not to mention the fact you couldn't play with your classic controler and were forced to play with the motion controls just all seemed like a step back.
I was fine with Skyward Sword until I reached the 2nd Spirit Vessel section on the volcano. After repeated attempts to collect those damned things and getting absolutely nowhere I finally quit in frustration and never went back. Shame really, I was enjoying it up to that point but I just don't have the patience for that kind of malarkey any more.
Just comeback to it later- Personally, I have been dragging-out TP. I've had it for 2 years and I keep stopping and starting. In the mean time, I have beat SS and many other games. The worse time I had in SS was the 4 armed Mechanical Warrior (who killed me many times) and my first fight with Ghirahim (that took forever).
@Root Keep in mind, direction can change with time. RE4, Wind Waker and the first Devil May Cry were all set to be radically different from the final product once upon a time. I think they are just going to keep the bright colors, not necessarily make a similar game. Remember the remake of Wind Waker? They spoke of experimenting with the graphics for the new game and using that for the remake. So for now we have to wait and see. But I don't think it will be as close to Skyward Sword as Nintendo's word has you assuming.
Skyward Sword and Wind Waker are pretty good, but just go with what you had in the tech demo. I would be delighted with that.
funny i thought it would be his voice.....
twilight princess had the best art style. keep the cel shade/water color crap in the handheld devices.
Just make Link an adult right off the get go. screw this kid crap. Also let him get some action from Zelda. Also make the game darker and more adult BLOOD and gore. Also can the cartoon link games from here on out. Links fans have all grown up, Link should as well.
Links graphical style has changed a lot over the years, though I would like to see them take a step back and reuse the older designs. I like all the pre-OOT designs and especially the oracles version. It a remake of Link to the past or anything else does happen, I do hope they make it cell-shaded all while mimicking the old art style. I do hope the new Zelda game looks like the wii-u demo. Keep link looking realistic-anime styled.
i would want the tech demo style. long as its not called zelda wii u. that reeks of lame.
Twilight Princess or that Tech Demo Nintendo... cmon.
my personal favorite is the link from Link to the past
They should go with Alfons Mucha (Czech Art Nouveau) (I've seen his style many places even in Comics) - Make it look realistic and beautiful. http://www.google.com/searc...
