NowGamer: CD Projekt has opened up on its PS4 release of The Witcher 3 and hinted at features for the console that haven't yet been fully revealed.
Most likely it's the playstation app intergration On tablets, vita and mobile. I hear ps4 will focus on smartglass style features alot. Not a huge leap to imagine navigating rpgs like the witcher with a map displayed on your mobile device.
Ported is adapted.
True. But hopefully this symbolises CD Projekt's intent to make sure each version is ported properly so the final product is fully functioning and of a high standard. Some ports have great coding teams working hard to achieve parity between all versions. But some are not so great. Skyrim on the PS3 is not a great port. I've put over 150 hours into it but the constant loading (from unoptimised code) takes the fun out of it. But to early to say about the Witcher 3. I might get it on PC or a next-gen console.
Not necessarily, porting is a straight cross-over. You translate it works, bam you are done. (Skyrim anyone?) Adapting means they'll put a bit more effort into it after the porting is complete. Maybe make use of some of the extra features, or even touch up the graphics a bit.
I just wanted to bubble you up for being so damn helpful!
That would only work if we were talking about similar architectures. If you want to port a PC game to the ps3 you need to make adaptations for it to work.
If it wasn't created on a PS4 to start with than it is a port.
Porting is not a bad word. Some are good some are bad. Porting sometimes is the difference from going under or surviving as a company. I could care less if it's a port. A fun game is a fun game.
All games are created on PC. I don't imagine there are many that aren't. So what I gather from that, that every single game ever has been released is a port from PC or other computer's engine.
Only when they state the PC is the lead platform otherwise it is created on a devbox. Hence what devbox's are for.
Damn I feel stupid now. Something made me think that devkit were connected up to PCs and the game is built in an engine optimized for that particular console's devkit. To be honest I have no idea how devkits work, so if anyone could explain that would be awesome.
No worries, here's a wiki article about it - http://en.wikipedia.org/wik...
Well just doing a simple port wouldn't be very smart. The PS4 has a lot of features and capabilities that could be beneficial to the PS4 version, why not use them?
Same thing different word, like my doctor told me today, "it's not bruised, it's discolouration" wut?
Porting a game meaning making it work on other platform that's it. Adapting means porting the game and adapting it to use the features of that platform.
Can't wait to see gameplay
