rawDLC Opinion: How can Ubisoft make Assassin’s Creed less sh*t?

Ubisoft has recently announced Assassin’s Creed IV: Black Flag and the franchise is steadily losing its the appeal with Assassin’s Creed III average at best. Instead of focusing on a yearly release model here’s a few ways Assassin’s Creed could win over some new fans and hold on to the longtime faithful. (Assassin's Creed III, Assassin's Creed IV: Black Flag, Culture, PC, PS3, Xbox 360)

Less Desmond as well, and why always so linear in the timeline? Why not have an entire modern day AC and play as Desmond's future ancestor looking back? Think outside the box Ubi and add some variety.

Don't see why many people hated Desmond, it was nice to get out of Animus and take a break from the past to explore the present and overall story.

The reason Desmond sucked as a character was because they give him no development

<SPOILER>

With him gone how the hell is AC4 going to work...Edward is his ancestor so how are we going to view the past without him.

Shouldn't they be figuring out a way to stop Juno....this is why I'm not taking it as a real sequel because it's basicaly a filler game like Brotherhood was to AC2. Why they made it the 4th title I'll never know

AC4 should of had a new character who Shawn, Rebecca and Desmond's father find who is a descendant of Eve so we'll have three games with a female Assassin. Maybe a game where you play as Eve in Eden, Shawn said he wanted to go back back even further in AC3

The modern day storyline will be an Abstergo employee (you) researching Edward Kenway for the Animus (game system).

@Root....
... I agree Desmond as a character sucks, but it wasn't JUST a lackof character-development.

The GAMEPLAY and level-design in his parts ALSO sucked. Big-time.

It was just no fun -AT ALL- to play as Desmond, and I certainly didn't think it was interesting or 'clever' either.

I wish they would have just trusted these games to be set 100% in the past, instead of adding a story-gimmick by adding the sci-fi overlay.

For me, the Desmond parts actually devaluated the quality game that was Ezio's story. Sadly.

Maybe the Rising Phoenix game is going to be about abstergo resurrecting Desmond and then the abstergo employee is actually going to be Desmond with no memory.

@Root

He has a father of the same blood... duh, and maybe Desmond isn't dead it's a game after-all not real life, ANYTHING can happen.

If you haven't noticed by now, spin-offs are the games they kept the same character in:

AC1-Altair
AC2(and all spin off's)-Ezio
AC3-Connor
AC3-Edward Haythem

...think
Root  +   402d ago
Yeah but Edward is more realted to Connor then other ancestors. He's still a Kenway so it still should of been a AC3 spin off. Since most people don't like Connor they could of spilt the two spin off games into his Grandad Edward and his father Haytham.

By bringing back Prince of Persia, There problem solved.

you see my avatar so you know ill agree with you,but on a serious note that wont help AC maybe if they stopped restricting people and milking the franchise it could be AC2 quality again,but if they bring back prince of persia and make a proper game,then that would be better for me at least.

They should stop making it an annual release.... It's getting really ridiculous. I haven't enjoyed any AC game like I did AC2. They need to take a break, do something else...
Add a crouch and cover button and voila, it's automatically 100 times better. [CROUCH] Remember standing next to a chimney or other similarly thin pillar-like structure? Remember how fun it was awkwardly shifting around to make sure the guard doesn’t see half your body. And if you’re standing behind a chest-high wall or on an incline at the edge of the roof, you’re screwed. Forget bending your knees and ducking like any other rational human would do in that situation. Apparently Ezio, Aveline, Connor and Altair are just too cool for that. They won’t stand to have creases on their pants. oh no!! [COVER] If there’s a room ahead filled with enemies (as is often the case in the assassin tombs and other closed-off areas) and you need to peek into it to see what their patrol patterns are like, tough sh*t. The best you can do is awkwardly stand right outside the door or behind a wall, desperately moving the camera around to try and see what the hell is in there.

And maybe, just maybe add a better moving option. There are only 2 speeds, awkward walking turtle and loud speeding bullet....
