Torrence Davis of The Bitbag writes, "I posted the Condemned 2 Achievements list yesterday for the 360 owners, but they aren't the only ones getting the Achievements."
So will they be same and same 1000 points or different?
i think the DMC4 accomplishments are exactly the same as with the 360 version but the PS3 version doesn't have a point system that scores your progress. I think that's where the trophies come in instead of points
Thanx meeps. Persistant score would be better to keep gamers coming back for more.
No matter how much I want to disagree with you...I honestly believe you are correct. I will hold of judgement of the trophies until I see how they are implimented. The gamerscore is off the charts. You can even get your 15 seconds of fame on X-Play for your gamerscore displayed around the world... I can't see how Sony could display the number of trophies a person got for a game.
*edit* Maybe...the total number of trophies earned would be like the gamerscore??
i know what you mean, i am looking forward to see how you can display your trophies in HOME, maybe have a massive wall of them =p but i like the way Microsoft have made the 360 with the achievement points. i have about 10,800 gamerscore and its good when someone has noticed you have managed to do something really difficult such as me completing and getting the FULL 1000/1000 achievement points for COD4 in three days =p i got countless messages saying stuff like wow how did you do this lvl and that lvl etc etc. [EDIT] would be weird being rewarded a trophie for breaking a dogs neck (COD4 achievement)
well well well, looks like the developers are using some new code ;)
Pick a name already
Of course if they call them rewards, you had better be rewarded with something when you get them.
For some reason, I like the idea of having trophies, pictures, etc. to put in your virtual home space.
its nice to see more third party devs emphasizing more on the accomplishments system that home has goin on.
what's the point if I get 10000000000 points ?
I wanna enjoy the games.
I tought they just got trophies.
someone please explane
i think it depends on the developer, but i know it will unlock stuff. most likely there will be certain trophies for certain accomplishments
home must be near
like i said.. the achievement argument won't be valid very, very soon.
Thats what i dont like comments like that. In your mind its like you have a list checking off all of the advantages of live against psn while sony plays catch. You cant beat an originator by just adding a simple gimmick. Its like with sony most of the games are fun and they develop a lot of them because the minds at sony are originators hence, all these new titles that are exclusive in house games. Compared to 360 where most things are 3rd party exclusive to 360. So just like Sony are originals and wont have to worry about games as much as microsoft, microsoft has great minds behind live and no matter what gimmick psn does to play catch up feature wise microsoft will always be coming up with something new and original while sony plays catch up.
Now as much as i cant what to see the trophy system, in the long run it'll be very annoying having to go to someones house to see look at a trophy case, while on live its right there easy and simple on a menu, cause no matter what any fanboy says in the end its about gaming and making gaming amongst gamers simple and fun. Now dont get me wrong when home comes out i will be playing around with it very much and having fun for about a couple of months but after that itll be let me just get into my games. Just like they say in the n4g podcast they played with home when it first came ut alot but the gimmick wore off now its just about the games. Not an avatar and an apartment.
Anyway I dont thinnk it will be points they just tell you u did so and so and when home comes out you will receives trophies shirts etc.
Just because Sony is going to imitate the achievements doesn't mean we already know the Achievements on 360 will be invalid as to reason which version of a game is better. Home is still a while off and Sony has a history of exaggerating their projects. And for all we know Microsoft could enhance the achievements, if it sees fit, such as actually getting live points or whatnot.
there you go
Now my trophy case is dust free
I my ps3 and that is the console that I am getting it for, but I dont think that achievements are such a big deal but for those that do like enjoy. I wish their was like a toggle switch for them.
sony should just do it like this, trophies=achievements you know get them when you do certain things withing a game. say you get a certain amount of trophies/achievements in a title, now that amount becomes an accomplishment. than rewards is what you would get for getting a certain amounts of accomplishments. than this simply means i don't know money for use on the ps store or use for items in home, such as tv's posters, shirts and such and such. so it will look something like this, 1.trophies 2. accomplishments 3.rewards don't know just an idea thats all, heck if i were sony thats what ill do for the sake of confusion. or what about Entitlements? well i guess they can go in between accomplishments and rewards. after you get a certain amount of accomplishments you get a message like say your entitle for a reward? i don't know lol just an idea, just ideas thats all. what do you guys think?
PSN wil have everything Xbox live does plus Playstation Home(too bad BOTS.... ytou can lie and say its lame buts its going to be huge hahahahahahahha) Dedicated servers for all the big games and everything is being remodeled to be more user friendly... and it's free. ALL BOTS WILL BE OWNED
Wait a second... that happens on a daily basis now!!!! HAHAHAHHAHAHAH DUMB BOTS
That I'm confused as to which to get. I got the original and loved it on the 360, but will the ps3 be better? I just wish there were some reviews up.
Well, I'd still rather see a point total than look at trophies. Plus, don't you have to view them inside someone's Home space? Are you able to select a user in a current game and compare games like on XBL? Or do you have to log out of a game, click on Home, go to the user's home and view the trophies? I'm curious.
Home is near, I can smell it >_>
PS3 owners don't care about achievements or accomplishments. Thats what they've been saying for the past few months and mocking them on the 360. Why care now?
because 360 owners have been whining about achievements and claiming that it makes their game 'superior' than the ps3 version.
@ElementX 12 - Well, I'd still rather see a point total than look at trophies. Plus, don't you have to view them inside someone's Home space? Are you able to select a user in a current game and compare games like on XBL? Or do you have to log out of a game, click on Home, go to the user's home and view the trophies? I'm curious. look HOMe is there for your pleasure pretty much, if you like to see your trophies in 3d than homE is there for that, now as soon as you leave home there is going to be a trophy icon on the xmb this has been shown the 1st time HOMe had surfaced so i don't expect this to change much.
that lists all the achievments you had in the game. Maybe certain achievments like beating a game three times or completing a game 100% should get you something nice to hang in your HOME space.
Its really endless if you think of it. Lets say i want to hang a map from Warhawk on my wall. That would be kinda cool.
Now will HOME really have War Rooms like they talked about on Warhawk? Will you be able to go hang around the GT5 lounge and find a race?
If so then you see where this ends in a few years
im not going to flame but it would make the online world of gaming Sonys. I must thank MS thou. If it wasnt for them online gaming wouldnt have evoled like it has.
But hey what can i say
They had 5 years making money on XBL and Sony just grabbed the cookie from there hand and are now dipping it in 360's milk
@Gam71 14 - PS3 owners don't care about achievements or accomplishments. Thats what they've been saying for the past few months and mocking them on the 360. Why care now? lol are you serious? Microsoft doesn't need blu ray why would they bother with an add-on? same goes kid. they didn't need an HDMI why build 360's with them? again same goes kid. to make it short and sweet, why don't we just say that we are quite a spoil bunch and we love to have it all, features keep em coming as long as they don't cost me a dime than yeah bring on the features, its called play-station for a reason, whatever you guys have that we don't we should have and more whether that being a blu ray player or some online account. the only thing we wouldn't want is the bad but anything thats good and attract sales to your platform we will take as well. with the exception of a few heavily paid for exclusives, which i might add we too have our share as well. but i have no beef so chill, im just giving you an answer to your question.
You can have what you want. I'm not denying you anything I'm just asking why after all the mockery from ps3 fanboys about accomplishments why the change in attitude now? It's not as if you have it yet to change your mind through experience? It strikes me as typical knocking just because it's M$ and not because there was anything wrong with accomplishments in the first place. It's not the first time this has happened. Rumble? Ps Home? Having a technically superior system. (i am going back a generation as well) It smacks of childishness and the need to feel superior.
but still doesn't make the PS3 achievements any more appealing to me. The whole system is still a mess and nobody knows how these achievements will be implemented into their online framework.
Achievements = Gamerscore = Why I will buy it on 360 (besides it being a great game)
If it's not appealing to you, why do you care? no one is forcing you to buy a PS3. I just simply don't get it, if you don't care then why do you even bother to mention it? maybe you feel insecure about it and want to share that insecurity?
if you dont pay for the online service do you still get a gamerscore? I really dont know
You do. The only thing you lose by not playing is the web based interactivity with other xbox live members and playing multiplayer.
Sony is copying their competition by tacking on a 1/2 planned feature. Similar to the SixAxix ripping off the Wiimote, even though it's a joke compared. I see this being the same thing with entitlements/attaboys/winnerpo ints or whichever dumb name they decide to call them.
360 is a truely connected experience and why the PSN is like the K-mart of online services. Achievements on the 360 are comparable against all gamers and equal an overall gamerscore. The achievement system is built into the dashboard and acts like a leaderboard for your overall games. If Sony thinks their tacked on entitlements will do anything to shift multconsole owners to buy their versions they are wrong. It's too late, MS already has them hooked and they will forever be the copy-cat/wannabe of achievements.
guess that makes xbox live like 360 custor support (meaning unreliable costs to much and over all garbage) i like how psn is set out even tho ive only been on the store once it was simble 360 u click on buy now u get an add telling u to go buy something eles
SONY SNIPER AND PROUD OF IT
just like the rest of your Sony Snipers/Idiot Defense Force.
It makes the 360 online like the 360 customer service?
The XBL has been online for 5 years and has been a great success, only at X-Mas did they have some problems which are long since gone. Yet, the desperate(ie YOU) will continue to rehash a story that has long since passed.
The rest of what your saying is just nonsense. When you purchase something you buy and your done you do not get any type of prompt to buy something else.
You are pulling a Fony on us by changing the subject from how pityful Sony and their "kudopoints/entitlements/ attaboys/happypointtime/fortune cookies" are compared to the original Achievement points.
Massive Damage to the Sony Fishheads!
Gaara I don't understand? "guess that makes xbox live like 360 custor support (meaning unreliable costs to much and over all garbage" Unreliable cost? Xbox customer support is free?
Harry you posted Sony= Innovation Microsoft= Imitation http://www.n4g.com/Redirect... Strikes me as the other way round don't you think troll? I await your witty comeback full of name calling and mixing CapiTalS in words ending Lol or lmao.
Actually Sony has done quite a lot of Innovation for pretty much everything and Microsoft are actually Imitators but i don't think your going to listen to me as I've read your past comments and it seems you have your head pretty far up Microsoft's ass.
Seeing as i was replying to someone with his head on the end of sony c*ck i'll pay no attention to that especially as looking at your comments you put me to shame. I made a valid point about achievements and if its going to be on ps home, well isn't that copying live? Both companies have innovated and imitated.
'especially as looking at your comments you put me to shame'
Well i admit my comment history is bad but thats only because i was pretending to be the mart(the Queen of the xbox fanbabys)
'I made a valid point about achievements and if its going to be on ps home, well isn't that copying live'
I don't know if you know this but there was some games on the PS2 one of them was a Ratchet and Clank game which had similar thing to achievements and that was well before the 1st xbox came out so in fact Microsoft copied off them and it doesn't really matter about company's copying anyway as Sony , Microsoft hell even Nintendo has copied stuff.
"Achievement" type system already. they don't tend to go under the name of "Achievements" but they are there. the haters who have never touched a PS3 are the only folks who have been touting a games superiority to the PS3 version due to Achievements, when PS3 fans have been enjoying the feature in certain games already. Heavenly Sword: not Achievements, per say, but the better you do at levels earns you "points" that unlock extras Resistance: your character gets metals and "points" for doing certain tasks in the game (kill 30 Chimera with Fareye, or something like that) Ratchet and Clank: the Ratchet series has *ALWAYS had Skill Points, and they return in Tools of Destruction. i don't remember how many their are total, but the points you earn can be used to buy unlockables like movies, cheats, and new skins. The Darkness: had "Accomplishments" which were the same as Achievements, but they didn't let you unlock anything. just kept track of what you've achieved. Uncharted: you get Medals for doing certain things (10 headshots, killing 3 people in one explosion five times in a row, etc), and you get points for each medal earned (ranging from 5-150 points). the points you earn can be used to unlock things like movies, photo galleries, new skins, unlimited ammunition, one shot kills, slow motion, and a lot of other stuff. those are just the few that came from the top of my head. i don't know why people act so surprised when a PS3 game is revealed to have some sort of "Achievement" like feature, as PS3 owners are familiar with them on certain PS3 games. in short; it's not anything new to PS3 fans, just 360 fanboys that didn't think the PS3 would ever get something as "awesome" as Achievements. *rolls eyes* personally, i don't like Achievements unless they give you something in return for achieving it (ie, unlimited ammo, new weapons and skins, etc). on the flip side, my fiance *LOOOOVES Achievements, and is currently trying to get all of the Achievements in Mass Effect. it's just an area where we differ in opinion, and neither is wrong, or right, for that matter(though i do tease her about it, just to see her face get red). it's just personal preference. is it good that more and more PS3 games are getting "Achievements?" sure, why not. maybe it'll shut up some of the irritating fanboys. but a good game is a good game, achievements or not (i doubt someone is going to argue against me saying that Bomberman: Act Zero was a sh*tty game, even though *IT had Achievements. you could slap an Achievement value on me taking a crap, but that doesn't change the fact that it's still sh*t). i'll replay a good game, even if i've already *UNLOCKED everything (ie, i've already unlocked all the medals in Uncharted, but i still play the game. why? because it's so damn *GOOD).
I have a PS3 and a 360, I only play exclusive games on the PS3, like Drake, heavnly sword, and RFoM, the rest I buy for the 360.
I actually slow down when I play 360 games and try to get the achievements.. but on the PS3, I just race through finish the game and pretty much never look back.
The 360 game i sometimes will go back and replay it to get certain achievements.
From day one, when i saw the "Achievement Unlocked" pop-up, I knew this was going to a great hook. It's excatly like the old arcade games where you could put your name in if you were near the top.
Now that Sony is copying it, let's see how this turns out.
wait, Codemned 2 is coming to ps3. I thought it was a xbox exclusive or something. I guess that's a good thing. More games that ps3 get, the better it's reputation going to get.
You should read more articles, man ;) The first game was awesome for a launch game, a sleeper hit for sure.
If you have a PS3...DO NOT BUY THIS GAME. Buy a 360, then buy this game. Just go look at the 360/PS3 comparison shots over at Gamersyde. It's an utter joke. PS3 am phale.
2 disagrees? Why??? Are you telling me the PS3 version DOESN'T look worse??? Go look for yourself. And it's not just the lack of color and contrast, it's blurrier shaders and no AA... It's a jag-fest. But what else is new...right?
the ps3 is one of the worst consoles eva
