We wrote earlier today of the issues surround the Xbox 360 version of Bully: Scholarship Edition, hoping to get a statement from Rockstar Games on the status of either a fix or a replacement plan for those affected.
the game needs alot of changes lol
what can we do?
Hahahahahahahahaha what a joke. xbots kill your selfs already it isnt going to get any betetr for you hahahahahahahaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa aaaaaaaaaaa.
Exactly...AHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAH AHAHAHAHAH... I never laughed so much in my live!!!!!!!!!!!!!!AHAHAHAHAHAH AHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAH!!!!!
wow man..telling them to kill themselves over a console? damn man you seriously have problems
i bet the rumor about ps3 having issues with framerates was the opposite and was for the 360 version!
nuffin much really but it would of been better if rockstar pushed it back more no convert it from ps2 to the 360 lol
whats with you and your xbug?
Wouldn't have happened if Take Two was mine
Every game EA makes/publishes for the 360, is superior to versions on other platforms. :)
Microsft is going to buy EA. This is their whole evil plan with Peter Moore and how they have had PS3 dev. kits for 3 YEARS now and still cant get MADDEN(LMAOOOOOOOOOOOOO) to run at 60 fps...knowing it will sell millions on the PS3 now that its over a year old.... EA and Microsft want to beat Sony... they have too much power and Brand recognition is this VERY POWERFUL industry. Its going to happen. Sony knows and is trying to prevent it. Microsft doesnt try to win fair... they cant. Sony is already winning again this generation lol. Why did this free up some money by letting Bungie/Bizarre up? Microsft is going to be a HUGE Publisher next generation.
mark my words it is happening. Sony is just too powerful and its becoming obvious that Microsft wants to win. They are going to steal EA. Watch and see.
M$ and Ea have an Alliance. I SERIOUSLY think they are going to try to take Sony down next generation and make it hard on them. Watch and see.
All's fair in love and war. Acquiring EA would be HUGE for MS. Don't worry though Harriet, there's nothing that either company could do to bring the other down for at least the next two generations. They're both too rich, and there's more than enough people to support all 3 consoles.
what does EA have against sony? i know their games have been slower on the ps3, but i think theyve made a crapload of cash from games on sony consoles, so im wondering why you think EA hates sony-
also, youre all over the place in your comment-you go from "stealing EA" to "having an alliance with EA" --- cool down, put some thought into your comments, and just relax-okay but another thing-EA doesnt even make consoles, so whyd theyd want to take down one maker is beyond me-
btw, microsoft never had bizarre...
wow if they cant get this 2 work what chance has GTA4? hope its a better team still youd think they'd have their best 360 peeps working on this port. ps if this is only an issue with older machines its bad news for us first gen ownerz sigh...
I guess now we see why GTA IV was given 6 months more time, they can't afford to make that mistake with this game. And to think the game has been finished since December or so and all they've been doing since is beta testing for bugs. For the hope of GTA to not get bought out by EA, the game must be released nearly flawless.
I like rockstar but look at them tryin to dump this on older 360 ther all the same just different size chips, causing less heating, power consumption etc.
day one. They didn't wait 18 months to address the issue half-heartedly. The same can not be said for the company behind the system it runs on.
some people could learn from this. Mistakes happen but how they are dealt with is important. Im sure they'll fix it as soon as they can
This is why I like these guys. They noticed the errors, and instantly said what they're going to do about it. They didn't act dumb, they didn't just make feeble excuses. They simply acknowledged the issues and said they'd sort them out. And people ask why I support R*. Can there be any question as to why?
At least they're owning up to it.
They didn't have a choice. It is like the Red Ring of Death. When it keeps jumping off the floor and punching you and your customers in the face there comes a time, no matter how late, where you just can't deny the proof that says you made a crappy product.
that they owned up to it instead of denying or spinning it.
It managed to make it past their internal QUALITY CONTROL process. TO pretend that ROCKSTAR didn't know about the crappy quality of this title is asinine. No one just developed it over night. Someone made the decision to know that the title was crap, and to still ship it because of the knowledge that they can get it on shelves, sell it, and fix it later. Console titles shouldn't be allowed to get patches to make the game playable months after release. It should be a law. OR it should be illegal to sell a game that performs nothing like it was claimed to when you bought it. Why is it fair that Rockstar can collect money on Bully? When the product is broken?
You complain about R* making the game, seeing that it has errors, and instantly announcing that they're going to fix it, but a company that makes a console, knowing it has errors, fears class action lawsuits against them, and begrudgingly adds a warranty is okay? Shut the hell up.
Seeing as how you have no idea what an internal quality control process is, why dont you just take some of your own advise. You missed the point that YOU AREN'T SUPPOSED TO WAIT UNTIL A PRODUCT IS IN THE HAND OF CONSUMERS TO NOTICE SEVERE PERFORMANCE RELATED BUGS IN THE CODE. Come back when you've read a book.
Actually agree with Blademask on this one. Developers like EA(who frequently release games full of bugs) need to develop their products better.
they have the resources to spot these issues even if they are stretched with the development of more important games. Maybe it was a time restraint or contractual deadline. Things like this, although scorned upon, are commonplace in the games industry so we should not be too shocked
I was simply making a comparison, and pointing out the flaw in this argument. Bugs happen. It is a nearly inevitable part of coding a complicated piece of software. There have been bugs in games since there were games period. On the PC, this has never really been much of an issue since the internet has been around. A game has noticeable bugs? Release a patch, and they go away. For the consoles, for the most part, there has been little they could do. This generation, all the major consoles have internet connectivity, which gratefully has put them in the same category in this case as most PC games; they can be patched. Now, I'm not giving R* a free pass for releasing a buggy game, but I think the response to the problem has more merit than the problem itself. The reason I don't give MS the same credit is because they spent forever denying the problem before they reluctantly did something to attempt to correct it. R* acknowledged and promised to correct the problem the instant they found out about it.
1-800-4MY-XBOX for all your coffin needs.
Oh you have the best user name since Bill Gates....HAAHAHHAHHA
25 comments all exactly the same. In my book that should be considered spam.
hmmm Assassins Creed all over again..Rockstar is one of my fave Publishers but they knew they game wasn't 100% perfect but hey Ubisoft got away with it so why can't they....this is ridiculous.
If it's all standardized hardware, shouldn't they have encountered these issues?
This is problem with having game you can patch. Everyone likes that a game can improve out of the box but not at the expensive of getting trash in the box. Geeze some people aren't even online you know. What the hell are they supposed to do? Still, I dont want to ever hear any bots saying this multiplat game is better on Xbox.
...but I AM a programmer. And you know, sometimes stuff just happens. It sounds to me that there is a possibility that first gen XBOX 360s MIGHT be slightly different than later gen XBOX 360s. Perhaps the RROD issue was more than just a processor overheating, and maybe Microsoft made some other tweaks to try to resolve the issue. In the process, maybe the newer gen XBOX 360s have slightly better performance or a slightly different driver for a piece of hardware. Maybe the first gen chips run at a higher temperature and perhaps at a higher temperature the processor might have a tendency to buckle under an extremely heavy load. Anything is possible, and it is quite likely that what Rockstar says is true. Perhaps they only have later gen XBOX 360s for their QA team. Maybe they never saw any of these problems during testing and are truly "horrified" to find out that there are quality problems with their product. I'm willing to give them the benefit of the doubt, especially considering that they aren't just trying to sweep this under the rug and claim that the reports of performance issues are just false rumors. However, now that they have come clean... they need to investigate this... and once the issue is fixed, they need to admit to whether or not the problem is found to be with their coding or with a Microsoft issue. And if it turns out to be a Microsoft issue, I really hope Microsoft owns up to it. If they don't, it is very likely Rockstar won't be too pleased with this. Microsoft will start alienating developers and will lose more and more quality games to the PS3. P.S.: I really hope Rockstar isn't just using dev kits in their QA team, because that isn't a true test.
You don't use dev kits for the QA team. You use debug units. Big difference.
If there are known differences in HW versions, the responsibility falls on the QA team to test across those differences. A good QA team should have a reasonable representation of the spectrum of HW/SW that the software will run on. Considering we are talking about HW revs, then they have no excuse not to test them.
How has R* already determined the problem is only with older 360's or is that just PR talk to hide the fact the product was poorly tested?
If they aren't testing Bully on older 360's they probably aren't testing GTA on them either.
It's quite odd if there are so big differences in the later modells that it actually effects performance this much. Sounds a bit off to me.
I too think that R* might be clean on this one. They surely have RODd their first consoles (think about the amount of use these consoles must get) and are testing on newer ones.
@ 11.2 How could they have all the nececcary HW revs if they have RODd? How could they possibally know there are so big differences on HW revs? MS told them or what?
Glad they're aware and working on a fix, but it sure seems like patches and updates to games are becoming the norm rather than an exception. It's nice that the option is there, but it does make you wonder if the developers are relying on it a bit too much...
it is becoming something of a norm.
which is a shame....now i think about it though, i guess when you look at everything that goes into the games these days, there is a lot more that can break or go wrong.
still, they really should know by now that most gamers would rather wait for a quality product then buy a game that is broken and get patch after patch to fix it.
Reminds me of GTA4 on PS3.
lmao owned + true. :D
hey get pawned gta4 is not out yet on either platform so how do you know how it runs on the ps3 your an idiot
"your an idiot" LMAO. I'll let you figure-out why you're so dumb on your own, but I admit that that will probably be quite the difficult feat for you to accomplish.
yeah because the buggy R* game (Bully)is on the ps3 not the 360..................ohhhh wait.
Too bad no one cares about Bully except you. Awwwww oh wait what? awwww
I'm baffled... frame-rate issues, audio glitches and freezes but only on older consoles?!?
The only thing I think of is perhaps it's something to do with wear and tear on the DVD-ROM drives.
And youve played it? Xbots believe anything they read.
they do say older xbox,s so more coffins on there way
Glad they're working on it becuase i'm still buying it for my xbox 360, not missing this game dudes.
you can play it XD
Dude we dont have shyt games like lair and then leave them to collect a shyt load of dust, wonder what ur ps3 is doing right now/ LMAO ownt
We have quality games that if are bugged then are fixed. :)
ps3 fangirls must have nothing to do on their ps3 so they come here disagreeing with every 360 owner.. go get some games for ur ps3.. OH WAIT
I'm just telling you "IF you can play it" I buy the damn game and it crashes every 15 mins, It's so cool to see my old game of PS2 but upgraded but it's a pain in the neck to see it crashing just because it was rushed and you lecture me about Lair???? WTF?
death is certin when you play a game the size of GTA4 on a toy like the xbox.R.I.P.PLAY B3YOND!!!
whats going to happen to all those arcade users?
How about they buy a HDD?
My PS3 version works fine....I mean my PS2 version upscaled on my backwards compatible PS3 works fine....IM KIDDING...settle down xboxers its a joke. I'll get disagrees I'm sure. Anyway, there is NO excuse for this to happen, R* should be doing their QA with way more QUALITY. I worked in the industry and when our studio QA'd titles they were tested on different generations of PS2 & Xbox systems to make sure you didn't have this happen. Different chips in different system configurations will always react differently to certain code. On a side, I didn't think the game was that great to begin with...hope it gets fixed for you guys
A company that is held in high regard such as Rockstar Games can only develop games to their full potential on Playstation platforms. Each and every game that was made by Rockstar saw superior sales which are accredited to hard work and dedication with Sony hardware. When trying to acommodate other platforms, Rockstar generally struggles because nothing can top the award winning PLAYSTATION® 3 console with groundbreaking features and enhancements.
Grand Theft Auto IV will be riddled with frame rate hiccups, jaggies and washed out textures on Xbox 360 which will make the PLAYSTATION® 3 the prefered version for gamers.
Look I enjoy reading about the drama in the gaming world as much as anybody, when I read the headline of this story, I literally sprayed orange juice out of my nose in amusement. Lol, the headline on this story is why this site can't be taken seriously.
If R* is horrified by what they released to the public after 4 years of having the IP, just imagine how they view the people that actually believe this garbage. Lol, horrified...yeah,me too...
haha, I love the way the are "horrified". What did they not test the game? They act so surprised but yet had to know that the game had these issues before they released it.
Wow, I hadn't heard about these issues, so when I read that Rockstar was "horrified", I assumed that Bully did something like transform your 360 into a giant killer robot that ate your family.
They better be, because fear of these problems can be projected on the much more complicated GTA 4
this is not surprising, most people are horrified by the 360.
Im glad they addressed it so quickly and are taking steps to fix it. BRAVO ROCKSTAR BRAVO.
M$ and the 360 will always be associated with the words: problems, repair, bugged and replacement.
like few years ago? or have they been fluffing a old port?
This is a port from the PS2 to the 360.
Rockstar is just test running that old dvd player of a console. They know xbox gamers buy anything so they need that money to make better blu-ray games. Face it, Developers are all thinking blu-ray right now so they dont have a problem putting out garbage on the xbox. Also, I would like to add that i just received my dual shock 3 from japan thru ebay into my hands and I gotta say that uncharted is 10x better with rumble guys. I just saved a bunch of money on my playstation 3 since I dont get nickeled and dimed on xbox live anymore. RAM MAGNUMS HAS SPOKEN... AND HAS USED HIS MONEY WISELY TO GET RUMBLE!!!
xbotsplzfixme can't even handle a ps2 game
