That says it all, there have been no Final Fantasies that rival those two games ever since "Hironobu Sakaguchi" The Master has left. LO comes pretty close.

FF X2's and 12, were partly rubbish, it just shows you the hardcore Jrpg fans still love the old-school labeled rpgs. That a mighty fine list, I'd say for the best games played. Love my turn--based games.

destroyah3573d ago (Edited 3573d ago )

I'm sorry but you turn-based fanboy idiots are the reason that JRPG's don't evolve. Leave it to Square-Enix to try something new and succeed. You can't compete with the quality these GODS put out each and every time they put out a major Final Fantasy game.

FFXII was rubbish? Why? Because it wasn't turn-based? What kind of dumb sh*t is that? It won game of the year from like 5 different sources and sold over 6 million copies. You people state "FFXII was rubbish" like it's the truth. Look at the reviews. It scored higher than any JRPG that Mistwalker has ever made. Lost Odyssey flopped all over the place. Hironobu Sakaguchi is a nobody now. He can't even make a game that goes above the 80% average on gamerankings or metacritic.

Lost Odyssey sucks. It's supposed to be a JRPG the art style looks like Western garbage. All washed out and brown with stupid looking characters. The music's good but nothing else worth bragging about. It's just another one of those "been there done that" JRPG's that flopped for that reason.

"Look at the reviews. It scored higher than any JRPG that Mistwalker has ever made. "

Who was the man behind these games? Hironobu Sakaguchi

· "What is the best game you ever played?"
1. Final Fantasy VII (Sony PlayStation)
2. Final Fantasy X (Sony PlayStation 2)"

I rest my case...you can hate now.

wooptidoo a FF gets 9s and 10's, tell me something I don't know. I didn't like FFXII, and I've played all of them. Plus I'm not alone. LO has very close ties to them 2 games mentions above. Ya know if you weren't a hater, you'd see this.

I agree with kewlkat007

I said it before and I'll say it again; If ranking FF games, I would place Lost Odyssey directly in the middle of FF7 and FF12. I've played just about every main stream FF game out there and I enjoy them a lot. FF7 is my all-time favorite game and that will probably never change.

Lost Odyssey is a Final Fantasy game at heart and you can definatly see that when playing it.

Well, there's enough JRPG developers that keep trying new things. Level 5 changes their gameplay mechanics with every new release. They have not released a sequel yet, but I'm hoping for Rogue Galaxy 2 on the PS3.

grilledgorlupa83573d ago

The fact that Final Fantasy X was directed by Motomu Toriyama makes me to believe that the heart of Final Fantasy isnt in the body of just 1 man but a great team that is always changing and evolving just like its games.

kewlkat0073573d ago

For some people and plenty, I'd say:

1. Final Fantasy VII (Sony PlayStation)
2. Final Fantasy X (Sony PlayStation 2)

These were the best games some have ever played.
Yes we know plenty are involved in a game and not just 1 man.

(Final Fantasy VII ) - Hironobu Sakaguchi (game producer, original scenario concept)
(Final Fantasy X ) - Hironobu Sakaguchi (executive producer)

Yes he has played a BIG part of, to some,"What is the best game they have ever played", Including me. Ya know people will knock him since he has no titles on the PS3.

BeaArthur3573d ago (Edited 3573d ago )

Have to agree with kewlkat007, FF 12 was garbage. FF 12 attempted to take the control out of your hands. Just because something is old does not mean it is outdated. JRPG's are a tried and true formula and although games like Lost Odyssey aren't up to the level of what classic Final Fantasy titles are they are at least providing something for those of us who still like the turn based RPG's. destroyah....please don't call someone a fanboy and then proceed to give Square-Enix a bl*w job. If you liked FF 12 then you like FF 12 but there are still plenty of us out there that still love turned based RPG's.

gaffyh3573d ago

Final Fantasy 8 was great but I honestly think all of them after that have been crap, including FFX. Although I only played a demo of FFXII and I quite liked it so I won't pass judgement on it.

grilledgorlupa83573d ago

Final Fantasy X still turned out to be a master piece even though Sakaguchi played a far lesser role than he did in previous Final Fantasy.

destroyah - you do realize that there are people that will buy FF games just because it has the FF name right?
"Look at the reviews." Reviews dont really mean anything.. plus, what do you think people would say about a site that gave a FF game a 5 or less? Exactly.

But, don't get me wrong.. MOST of them ARE good games.. but, then again the last one I played and enjoyed was 7..

PS3Mogul3573d ago

I can see that 14 out of the 20 slots were occupied by a Sony device. Odd considering I'd expect to see Metroid, Super Mario Brothers and whatnot at the LEAST in the greatest games they've ever played. Especially over Okami, which was one of my top ten games as well as Xenogears but...
