Pachter: PS4 and Next Xbox Will Sell Almost Twice as Much as Wii U

GXC: "The South by Southwest (SXSW) Conferences are happening right now offering a bit of music, festivities, and gaming. Gaming analyst Michael Pachter has been presenting at a panel, speaking about the next-generation of gaming systems, including the Wii U, PS4, and Next Xbox (codenamed Durango)."

I Cant really disagree with Patcher here.. tho i think its an obvious conclusion i would be amazed if this statment didnt come true.

This generation the last, I dont see that anytime soon, smart tv cannot replace consoles because they are still just modern HTPC which will be too expensive like real PC gaming. A cheap console will always be needed and even gabe newel see that is a fact.

But the sales seems ok in his prediction, if nintendo cant get the non nintendo core gamers or casuals back then they surely will sell something in that region.

Nintendo core gamers are not going get that console above 30mil easily without non traditional nintendo gamers on board or casuals.

This is ol' Patchy, so WiiU "comeback" confirmed.

Yeah, then there are millions of people (like me) who do not like "smart" TV. For security reasons, the desire for customizable dedicated devices, etc, etc. I'll keep my dedicated consoles/PCs.

Nintendo could lower the price, release some power games, UP the marketing/hype, and it would fly off shelves.

Though I can see PS4 selling double if everyone buys two like me :]

I'm just gonna put this article right here.

Oh and this article

Reminds me a few months ago I came across IGN's 3DS is doomed and Vita is set to succeed articles. Oh hindsight.

clearelite1179d ago (Edited 1179d ago )

Well, now we know Pachy is the reason for Vita's slow start. Him and his predictions....

Not sure exactly WTF he is, but perhaps he talks to clueless newbie investors.

He probably serves a function, or he wouldn't be around any more. The question is what function, because he isn't into accurate prediction/prognostication.

I always get a kick out of these articles though.

lilbroRx1179d ago

Well, you can't argue with that.

You know something is wrong with your logic when you start believing and agreeing with Patcher. Then again, he would even be in business if not for anti-Nintendo fanboys who love to here his predictions of doom for Nintendo.

lilbroRx1179d ago (Edited 1179d ago )

You are agreeing with the man that predicted that the Wii U would was priced right and would meet sales expectations.

You are agreeing with the man who says the PS4 will be $400?

You are agreeing with the man who said the PS4 will render games at 240FPS?

Just go to show that people around here hope for the worst from Nintendo and will believe anything negative about them.

bullymangLer1179d ago

start making games for the ps4

AngelicIceDiamond1179d ago

I live near Austin I wish I was there for the Q&A ask him some tough questions.

I can realistically see that happening. Sorry but the Wii U isn't next gen, its Nintendo's next gen. Just like Wii was Nintendo's "next gen." The Wii U isn't brand new living room technology its current living room tech just like the PS360.

The tablet is innovative in its own right and next gen gaming pad. But a system that has graphics card that's merely an update over PS and Xbox's isn't really next gen.

Consumers don't want to buy a console for a slightly better Wii U port and exclusive tablet features that may or may not break the game.

PS4 and 720 will be brand new living room technology That gamers want.

Theyellowflash301178d ago

Just like the 3DS, Nintendo needs time to get their exclusives out.

i agree with him here.. Wii U needs to find itself because when current gen games stop being produced, itl be left to dry.. Its already drying out because it doesnt get 1/4 the publisher support as PS3/360.. Its 1st party will be what holds it afloat

PopRocks3591179d ago (Edited 1179d ago )

Great. More crystal balls. Can we not just wait and see before we end up with socks in our mouths?

Look, I'm not even trying to say the Wii U will sell even remotely closely to the Nextbox and PS4. I'm saying let's just see what this market does and how things play out. Everyone expected the Vita to be a hot seller at launch and it was anything but. The same thing happened to the PS3 and even the 3DS (though only initially for both). The market is not the way it used to be; let's just see how this plays out instead of making predictions that can very easily turn out to be incorrect.

EDIT: And it's Pachter for goodness' sake. When was the last time he was right about anything?

LOL_WUT1179d ago

Well, he's been right about the Wii U so far so who's to say he can't be right about this. ;)

Anyhow, why are trying to write this off? If to you he's always wrong then, why do you even care what he has to say?

PopRocks3591179d ago

I don't know, why are you condescendingly cynical in nearly every Wii U related article, negative or positive? You're only using this quote to stroke your own ego, not because it holds any merit. At least I have the sense to say my piece and be done with it AND not pretend like my opinions or facts or to make predictions and act like they are set in stone.

I'm saying something I would say in regard to ANY system. Wait and see. That's a very simple concept because making assumptions does nothing but lead to trouble. I never once said the Wii U would be a smash hit and I never once said anything about the Vita being a failure (in fact I'm completely convinced that the opposite will happen in the long run).

Pachter's predictions are more often than not completely the opposite of what actually happens. Maybe he's right about this, maybe he isn't. MY point is that acting like he's right before it happens is stupid because he's no soothsayer. He is a man with the same mental capacity as any other person. So no, to me his predictions hold no water.

lilbroRx1179d ago

He was right about it meeting sales expectation and selling out through its launch?

Jadedz1179d ago

Pachter's predictions are as sporadic as the Harlem shake.

RTheRebel1179d ago

If games reach 70$ no way in hell will Next-Gen consoles sell alot. Plus we still need to see the PS4 price tag, and Next Xbox price tag aswell. Plus if they support Used games.
