Refunds? You Don’t Need No Stinking Refunds

The Geek Link writes: Have you ever had to return something that you found to be broken once you opened the box and set it up? Well, too bad if you bought SimCity digital edition through EA’s Origin because you can’t. Why not you may ask. It’s against the terms of service that you agreed to when you created your account.

zerocrossing4062d ago

No refunds for Simcity? Yeah, I beg to differ about that.

smikey11234062d ago

EA has come out and said they are refunding the digital copies through Origin. A couple say people were able to do it, but then EA made a blanket statement saying that they weren't going to do refunds.

adorie4062d ago

EA is the scum of the industry, they have outdone Activision by a large margin. EA is publicly crapping on their customers.

***"EA is the scum of the industry, they have outdone Activision by a large margin."***

I totally agree. EA is officially worse than Activision. EA has done so much injustice to gamers in such a very short span of time. It's unbelievable.

Nate-Dog4062d ago

Saying "we don't give refunds" is illegal. Especially when it's to do with a faulty product.

smikey11234062d ago

@Nate-dog it is not if it is in the terms of service when you register for the service, which is what they are doing. In some countries it is still illegal, and they are honoring those. Otherwise they are allowed to say you have to wait for them to be able to fix it. Is it shitty yes, Illegal no.

Bimkoblerutso4062d ago (Edited 4062d ago )

Edit:

Yeah, what Smikey said.

Nate-Dog4062d ago

@Smikey: This is apparently mostly aimed at EU consumers / players and in all countries in the European Union by law consumers would be entitled to a refund. (I do realise what you're saying though. But I still don't think EA can put themselves above consumer rights and laws.)

So sad that a game has to get all this publicity over something like this, sadly this game probably wouldn't of got all this press if it wasn't for all this negativity. Maybe they're doing it on purpose lol.

Axonometri4062d ago

Ha!! Thank you for a good laugh today. The headline on this piece is awesome!

Scenarist4062d ago

from now on for both steam and origin and uplay ...

if and when the time comes to buy another game from any of them

i will create new accounts for most games.... that way if i need a refund i can just charge back... ... let them ban the account and not care

7 Times Games Forced Us Online (Against Our Will)

Some games force online-only measures onto people. It sucks! Especially when some titles, like these seven, 100% didn't need it.

Need for Speed as well. Here's to hope that the new one will be a return to form for the franchise.

Gaming1012434d ago

Dead Space was the worst ruining... micro transactions in a full price game, with co op that was mandatory to get all the story and access to certain areas. Sure Rock Band was oversaturated, and Burnout was basically killed off even though it sold a ton on PS3 back in the day.

indysurfn2434d ago

Wow kudos EA! no one can kill a franchisee like you can kill a franchises.

lptmg2434d ago

Sadly, Rock Band died because of Activision shoving one Guitar Hero every 3 months
