EA/Maxis employee gets banned on NeoGAF for 'attempting to distort the news aggregate'

DSOGaming writes: "Before starting this article, let me tell you that we’ve seen such behaviors in the past on various boards. However, it’s really funny when a developer – that does not reveal his or her true identity – tries to damage control with an anonymous account on either a gaming website or a gaming board/forum. NeoGAF’s member ‘GlassBox’ attempted such a thing and got banned for trying to ‘distort the news aggregate‘ all without actually disclosing to anyone there that he or she works for the ‘company in question.’" (EA, Industry, Maxis, PC)

I posted this in another Sim City article when someone mentioned karma but no one saw it and I just have to share it again. Even I laughed at it, and it was my little work:

"You know the kind of game publisher that does bad things and wonders why their sales suck? Well, that was me. Every time something good happened, something bad was always waiting around the corner. Karma. That's when I realized, my DRM policy had to change. So I made a list of every game with bad DRM I had ever made and 1 by 1, I'm going to patch out all of my mistakes. I'm just trying to be a better games company.

My Name is EArl. "

Let's hope this positive pro-consumer approach spread and becomes the obvious and only acceptable business model - because let's face it, games don't come cheap nowadays and if on top of that we get them sliced down to DLCs or restricted based on whether you're online or not and so forth... that's gonna simply kill the envy of every gamer to support the devs that usually don't have anything to do with their publishers evil practices. Gamers around the world should reprove and vote against this plague..

isn't this the norm for Ea and there people to on game sites and troll/ defend there garbage products, I'm pretty sure they hire people to do that stuff.

Anyone that defends any Kinect related game has to be. I have never been as disappointed with a product as much as Kinect.
Stefanrules7  +   808d ago
Yep i saw one a few hours ago who said something like "personally i have never had any problems with origin or EA and have bought numerous great quality games that i have never regretted purchasing , also whenever my friends have needed support on origin they have said that customer service is excellent. People should give EA a brake and enjoy the quality games that they continue to pump out"

At the time everybody saw that they said EA employee alert , so yeah theyre probably reading this now

Lol, I feel like I've seen that exact same comment you're talking about.
stuna1  +   808d ago
Someone actually did make that comment! I remember reading it, I just can't remember which article.

One of Platinum Games' forum's head moderator posts here all the time, all positive and/or damage control stuff related to Platinum Games games, every post. I'd bet he's paid for it.

Paid shills post on internet defending their company, news at 11!!
Gaf is probably full of them.

A Microsoft employee got banned from Gaf for trolling GT5 and praising Forza.
EffectO  +   807d ago
I think MS has given up on gaf, barely anything positive about 360/720/WiiU gets posted on gaf these days.
Sony stuff on the other hand...

"It saddens me that I can't even say I like a game by EA without being considered a paid shill."

Unfortunately lots of "gamers" watch the world in black and white.Either something is the best thing ever or complete shit mentality.

NeoGAF is a joke and it represents everything that's wrong with Internet gamers. They've turned everyone into bean counting fanboys and ruined video game discussion on the Internet. Gamers shouldn't even care about sales figure, no matter what excuses they provide.

And ask yourself, why is paidforumposting.com advertising on NeoGAF?

Anyone who still uses and trusts old fashioned message boards to get their news is a chump and a sucker. Selective quoting, banned sites? No thanks.

BTW, I'm not defending this guy, just stating the obvious. Remember when certain NeoGAF "insiders" claimed there were "problems" with the Xbox 360 version of GTA IV? They even posted doctored gifs to reinforce their lie.

What about that portable gamecube they claimed would replace the Nintendo DS? How about that Wii HD? And what about two years of censored NPD numbers? Daily Nintendo is doomed threads, etc, etc, etc

"Anyone who still uses and trusts old fashioned message boards to get their news is a chump and a sucker."

And yet old fashioned messaged boards are still more reliable than the "media" and "gaming journalists".

i dont get how they can be 100% it is a EA/Maxis employee. seems like it is still a bit of an assumption on their part to say who it is.
