Naruto Shippuden: Ultimate Ninja Storm 3 Review | Metal Arcade

Metal Arcade: Jason Bakker writes:

Naruto Shippuden: Ultimate Ninja Storm 3 is a fun, engaging, gorgeously rendered anime adaptation, but it leaves something to be desired in the action department.

Namco Bandai's Naruto Shippuden: Ultimate Ninja Storm 3 is a fantastic adaptation of the anime series. If you're a fan of the TV series, you'll definitely get your money's worth from this game. Featuring beautiful cel-shaded graphics, the entire localized English voice cast, epic boss encounters and the most current storyline in any Naruto game yet, this is a well-rounded package. You can even play as eighty different characters in the game's Free Battle and Online Battle modes. This is all great, but what if you're new to the series? Will you be completely lost if you've never picked up a Naruto game before? That was my position when Namco Bandai sent out a review package for Naruto Shippuden: Ultimate Ninja Storm 3, and based on my experience, I can say... probably.

Great review, I usually don't take the time to read through reviews of a game I already have, but saying that you'd never picked up a Naruto game before interested me. Great to hear a review from a perspective like that, which doesn't have a whole lot of experience with the series.

Pretty much what you said was spot-on, although I would have added the fact that they could have put in a couple more boss battles. There were some regular enemy battles that I was disappointed to see weren't actual bosses. (Fighting Danzo with Sasuke, and Nagato against Naruto) for example really should have been bigger battles.

Sasuke vs danzo would of made for an awesome boss battle.

Sasuke vs Danzou was a QTE boss battle in Ultimate Ninja Impact, don't see why it wasn't in a QTE battle in Storm 3. :/
I haven't played the game yet, but I heard Konan vs Tobi isn't a QTE boss fight? Was really disappointed. The fight had a lot of potential.

Oh yeah! I completely forgot about the Tobi vs. Konan battle... That was a HUGE disappointment. She also didn't die the way she was meant to. Although props to the devs for doing impalement for the Minato scene... I was REALLY surprised they got away with that without an M rating. o_o

Despite its shortcomings, the boss battles that ARE in the game are amazing... Chapter 9 and Chapter 10. That is all I will say. Those bosses are freaking epic in almost every way.
