Tomb Raider Review - ThisisXbox

ThisisXbox writes: One of the key foundations for a video-game to make you enthralled by its excellence is to captivate you as a player. Tomb Raider not only captivates you by its riveting story and plot lines, but it emotionally charges you to have a need to succeed with Lara’s great overall plan. It’s not often that a game can come along and really make you feel involved in the outcome – and Tomb Raider goes all out to make sure you have the greatest experience following Lara Croft on her journey of survival. (Tomb Raider, Xbox 360) 10/10

It's not a 10.

More an 8, but a good game.

If you gave GTA4 a ten, then you obviously would give anything a ten.

It's a 9 for me. Great game with a bit of missed potential.

Satisficing gameplay. Kill animations and finishing moves are brutal. Dying is brutal. Laura's skill combos get real interesting and brutal. This is a dark adult game not for the kiddies. Mature artstyle and the level of graphical fidelity and physics makes it hard to watch Laura and the enemies die sometimes.

I just stop and stare at the environments. The Lighting, textures and detail are really unmatched on consoles and even some PC games. I've never seen a lighting engine work so well with such detailed foliage.

Frackin foliage is fine and proportional with no huge blocky smear jobs up close. High rez textures makes you stop and stare at the environmnets. I mean I can see the hair on MOSS!!!!! HDR Lighting and color palette just boosts the artwork and textures. Unmatched weather effects. Unmatched action scenes and destruction realism. Enviornmental phyiscs are unmatched.

Don't know how they did it. Proportional foliage looks better and sharper as you get closer to it(like in real life) vs the way all other games are which they look worse up close.

Story blends well with the game never really taking you away. It's not intrusive at all. Perfect blend of cinematic design and gameplay done the right way. No difference between cutscene and gameplay.

Non gamer friends and family at the edge of their seats watching people play this at my house. The waterslide spike death had folks mouths open LMAO

EPIC action scens when buildings and mountains etc are being destroyed

It is a great game; not a perfect score game though. It is a 9.5. I definitely expect great things from these people now though. They have earned my money.

Each to there own but I actually enjoy the multiplayer, the only bad thing I will say is "5 maps" it's abit lame, i'd expect that from maybe a store or market place game also only 4 game modes. Now although it would have been nice to see abit more content to the online side i'll let it off because you can clearly see the devs have put a massive amount of time and effort into the single player 9/10 for me
