CD Projekt RED: PC allows for more at the moment but that might change in the future

DSOGaming writes: "We’ve all been wondering what next-gen consoles will bring to the table, and according to CD Projekt RED, these new consoles will be more powerful than we initially thought. According to CD Projekt RED’s MD and studio head Adam Badowski next-gen consoles will most probably unify requirements, meaning that all versions will look really close to each other."

Curious to see whether there will be differences between the PC and the console versions of both The Witcher 3 and Cyberpunk 2077

ApolloTheBoss1719d ago (Edited 1719d ago )

I'm hoping they'll be very little.

LAWSON721719d ago

Yeah the difference will only be visually probably. PC will always have the best graphics. It will also have 60 fps which is so much better than 30.

papashango1719d ago (Edited 1719d ago )

PC's aren't limited to 60fps. They can go higher should your monitor support it. 120hz monitors are dropping in price more these days.

Also pc's have the ability to play in eyefinity/Nvidia surround. I'm talking about 5000x1080 resolutions. Higher if you have a 16:10 monitor.

Of course he's not talking about this gen as ps4 specs are confirmed to be at a low/mid range gaming pc level.

I wish consoles wouldnt be so closed platform. In an age where everyone is connected through the internet consoles should take more advantage of it.

stuna11719d ago

I think they're closed more so due to piracy! But it would be nice if consoles could take advantage of mods.

When the PS4 and Xbox 720 launch they will be on par with the PC for a couple of years and then the platforms slowly start to drift apart again in terms of raw power.

I'm looking forward to the period that they are indeed on the same level, because this will benefit all of the platforms.

Instead of one platform holding the others back you will have an equal and overall better experience.

What PC? You say on par with PC like there is a set pc that defines all pcs. If you mean a low to mid pc then you maybe right (again, what defines that pc?) But if you are talking about a pc with a 680 let alone a titan then you sir are wrong and we are not even talking about the processors and any of that jazz. There is no PC that defines all PCs. When you say PC it is an ambiguous term that defines a system running windows; that is all. Just putting that out there.

PC elitist will never get your point they live in a land of ultra powerful PC's and fat wallets they dont realize there the minority and every one else has a laptop or a low spec pc.

im excited about next gen. im going to buy a ps4 and wii u. was going to buy a pc but now fail to see the need ill stick with me laptop

NameRemoved00171719d ago

Console vs PC is typically lower mid end.

If your talking best of the best 3x gtx titans and a 3930k will push 1600p maxed for 7 years atleast

stuna11719d ago (Edited 1719d ago )

I really doubt that the majority of pc gamers have high end pc's.

@papashango
The Ps3 was doing above 64 player 2 years ago! I'm going to say 128 player, but I actually think it was 256 players in a game called Mag, look it up.

JonahNL1719d ago

Wow, three disagrees already. Do people really not understand what I mean? The PC platform is currently capable of things that the consoles aren't. Take BF3, for example. The PC allows for 64 players, the consoles don't. With the PS4 and Xbox 720 DICE can deliver that 64 player experience on the consoles.

JayD-1K1719d ago

64 players could have been possible on the PS3. MAG had 256 players on a map.

gazgriff2k121719d ago

yep i was going to buy a £800 pc just for battlefield 4 and witcher 3 now have no need because i know my ps4 versions are going to be on par with PC versions.

battlefield 5 and the witcher 4 will be better on pc but only in graphics terms the ps4 version will have the same gameplay

papashango1719d ago

no 64 players could never have been done on the ps3. Did you not take into account the lack of physics, the crappy textures, and zero terrain destruction mag offered?

SlapHappyJesus1719d ago (Edited 1719d ago )

@Gaz

What makes you think that the games will be on par with the pc versions? Nothing has really been seen of Battlefield 4 and even Witcher 2 requires the truly high-end cards to run at a steady 60fps.

What, given the tech confirmed for at least the Playstation 4, says that the next gen consoles can compete with what the pc-focused developers are going to be releasing?

Nate-Dog1719d ago

@gazgriff: There won't be a The Witcher 4. CDPR already confirmed that 3 will be the final game of the series.

Also you don't need to spend such an exorbitant amount for a good PC in order to play games like Battlefield on high settings.

Ashunderfire861719d ago

Shittttttt... 60 players was possible on PS3 back when Resistance 2 came out. Even 360 could of done this too with Perfect Dark Zero, which could of been played up to 50 players, but the developers stop at 32. Heck that was a launch game!!! Killzone 2 and 3 had just as much. I think even Frontlines Fuel of War had 50 players too.
