OXM UK: "Rumours of the death (that's to say, exhaustion) of current generation console technology have been greatly exaggerated, it seems. According to Epic's lead level designer Jim Brown and People Can Fly art director Waylon Brinck, Gears of War: Judgment represents another quantum leap in terms of graphics and performance - and Brinck is confident studios can squeeze further gains from the hardware in future."
ND said they maxed out the Ps3 3 times now. Atleast EPIC are honest that they didn't fully utilise the 360 for the new gears
I am inclined to believe Epic, just because you can almost always do something better.
The X360 can not do 1080p @ 60fps so therefore it's MAXED OUT!
sure you can figure out little things here or there but other than that the system has Hit the wall!!!
I'm not denying that performance-intensive spectacle is nice, but it's also expensive to produce, and because it's expensive to produce, there's less money to throw at intelligent design. God of War 3 might be this generation's most impressive-looking game, but in terms of what you actually do? Might as well be playing Final Fight.
Don't know why you still bother trolling Xbox articles, but from a technical perspective, Judgment has more enemies on screen at once, and has also improved the already fantastic lighting from Gears 3 and fire effects. I'm sure there are even more improvements.
And besides, Gears 3 is still one of the best looking games on consoles, so obviously they can't have such a major jump from a game released 1 and a half years ago.
Don't be so defensive.....The next gen is upon us , for fans of Playstation and Xbox
Don't try to defend an idiot, it just makes you look bad.
I'm not trolling I'm speaking the truth. They look almost identical. When Xbox shows a game that looks amazing I'lll give them credit I'm not biased about it. I think Gears of War: Judgment looks good but it's nothing amazing.
So what you're saying is the X360 has reached it's max and any efforts to improve game quality should be focused on next gen.
"It's dead. It's dead, Jim." - Dr. McCoy
Don't they mean "there's still something more we can figure out"?
Their comment gives the impression the 360's potential is limitless and reall it's anything but that for every console that isnt upgradable, they'll ma it out soon for sure...
For example, somebody could look at the way that a game's code applies textures at runtime and realise that there is one-to-many loops in the code which if fixed could speed-up the method and free up resources for other things.
could a graphic patch actually upgrade those old games to looks like a end gen graphics.
as far Epic squeezing more power out of the box, well there is just so much you can squeeze.just accept it and say we've reach the best optimization point for the 360. It's been how many years now... it's ok, it was a great run and let it rest.
If this had been a Sony developer and he had said that the Playstation 3 had not yet been axed out, all u fanboys would be here agreeing with the statement.
Killzone and Uncharted have traded places as the best-looking franchises on consoles. Heavy Rain, God of War, nothing on any other console touches them. And just when you think the games won't look any better, The Last of Us and Beyond: Two Souls show up.
360, on the other hand... well, at least they haven't gotten worse, right?
Yet Sony first party titles has visuals that make you take a step back and smile. I still play my Xbox more than my PS3, but while the graphics in first Party Xbox titles is "kinda" improving, the frame rate takes a big hit (see Halo 4).
Don't be afraid of google. It's actually there to help you research so that you don't look foolish spreading false information.
The fact is that after God of War Ascension and the Last of Us the PS3 will be "maxed out".
That doesnt mean that both platforms dont have some great games ahead of them.
BTW, not ripping on Halo, massive Halo fan, but the frame rate sucks dick in co-op.
