The Video show more gameplay, but little spoilers. The fact that you can find the Hidden chest to upgrade you health and stuff easier than the past games, makes me a little mad. I love the previous games where you had to really explore to find the Gorgan eyes and stuff, that is what helped with the replay value.

They kind of praise the MP, but kind of takes it back. I don't know. Nonetheless, I will still get the game. Tuesday can't come soon enough.

Another outstanding review. It is only .02 points below their recently reviewed Tomb Raider so it should be a great game for PS3 fans to play.

I'm disappointed they said the scale wasn't up to par with God of War 3. That's what I wanted.

Lol, true. I honestly didn't think SSM could top the epicness of God Of War III with Ascension though. (They could be pretty damn close though).

Especially considering it's a prequel running on current gen hardware. I sorta knew it wouldn't be as mind blowing as III (It'd be a bit weird to have a prequel more epic than the end of the trilogy, lol).

God Of War IV on PS4 on the other hand! NOW THAT is a different story! Hope they have Kratos take on the Primordials or something. Or make a spiritual successor to GOW set in the Norse mythology.

Most low-scored gow here. That's sad.
Skips  +   556d ago
How's it sad??? Since when is scoring an 8 out of freaking 10 bad? LMFAO! It may not be as high as the main installments.

But it's pretty common for prequels/spin off titles to score much less than main installments of the franchise.

I can come up with MANY examples but it would be a waste of time. lol

Halo Reach scored a 91. Just puttin it out there. Prequels can be very very good when done right.

^^^

But I do recall Halo 3 ODST and Halo Wars scoring somewhere in the low 80's. Like an 82 or something.

My point still stands of prequels/spinoffs usually scoring much less than main installments.

"Prequels can be very very good when done right."

I absolutely agree. Halo Reach and GOW: Chains of Olympus, both scoring 91 are great examples of that.

Well I will give you ODST scoring low for a spinoff, but those low scores were mainly for it being a large DLC priced as a large game.

As for Halo Wars, that was a completely different genre. RTS have proven to be difficult to get high reviews for consoles. However Halo Wars IS tied with with LOTR:BFME and Red Alert 3 for highest rated RTS games.

Halo Reach is a proper prequel/spinoff to the Halo series just like God of War Ascension is to the God of War series.

I personally don't think these low scores has anything to do with it being a prequel but that it's just the same story over and over again. We have all known Kratos's story and anger towards the gods, especially Zeus. We are playing the same story that has been told throughout the last 5 games. Nothing has really changed, it's just a more detailed beginning.
