Do gamers prefer the grind over petty transactions, and can microtransactions ever actually work?
I have no hate or issue with DLC, microtransactions etc etc... What I do not want to see, which has happened a lot this gen, is Disc Locked Content and Cut Content sold for a separate price. If people want to buy extra skins and maps or whatever, that is awesome for them, but not at the cost of charging more for what should be a complete core experience.
We don't really like them when we're paying for stuff that should have been included with the retail version. Microtransaction aren't bad they are just ridiculously abused.
If a game has them I will wait until I can get them in one download or one disc, usually a year later. I would have bought Simcity day 1, now I may never buy it. Just doesn't interest me.
