There's plenty of confusion out there with renumbered games. The classic example is that a friend tells you his favorite game is Final Fantasy III...and you wonder if he played a Super Nintendo game over a decade ago, or if he played a DS remake of a Japanese Famicom title.
This month's RPGFan editorial tackles this issue, but with a positive outlook: the problems of the past are slowly subsiding. Yes, there's still plenty of renaming going around, but in general, the stateside publishers are starting to get the hint: we don't like renamed games.

Golden Axe is a great game I enjoyed it on the SMS, Genesis and in the arcade. Great game but it truly was a quarter eater back in the day. I wish Sega could get the rights to the arcade port of Moonwalker another great arcade game I enjoyed. Collect so many monkeys and become Robo Michael lol.
