Nintendo readying NFC-enabled Wii U games

Nintendo design guru Shigeru Miyamoto has said the company is hard at work on near field communication-enabled Wii U games.

The technology, which allows physical objects to be read by NFC-powered devices such as the GamePad and projected into game worlds, is used in titles like Skylanders and Disney Infinity. (Dev, Nintendo, Nintendo, Shigeru Miyamoto, Wii U)

I really dont care about NFC games...

But I hope they can use it to make microtransactions easier. That would help a lot!

I don't mind, and would eventually like to see some NFC games. But for now, I really hope that Nintendo isn't making this the focus. I want a library of games to choose from that in addition to having solid replay value, don't require me to buy or collect anything but the disk I'm playing the game on. Since they keep going on about how they didn't have the resources to get more HD games ready before now, I seriously don't want them focusing on things like NFC until they settle in with the bread and butter.

IMHO, Gimmicks like these are lame. They might be cool to some 5 year old kid, but to larger gamer community, things like these are just lame. Same goes to Dance revolution and guitar hero kinda games. You get bored of these things once the novelty factor is gone, which takes no time.

Again, these all things are IMHO.

Lol nontendo tryna copy sky landers and go after the children? Aha why doesn't this surprise me. An how are they going after the core gamers again?

Going after the children? Their games are mostly catered to younger audiences. Adult just happen to play them too.

I'm talking about the NFC toys that they're inevitably gonna place in th market. I mean i dont blame them. Thats where the money is at. Thats how they capitalized with the wii

It's funny people can't wait to jump down Nintendo and bash them for them for anything they do. They don't know if the new technology will be used for games or what. But my theory is lets judge them after they make there push. The technology is put into there controller because they can see something that we can't. They been doing it for years so until we see the fruits of there labor lets just chill out.

Plus do we want the same thing or a break through experience?

I predict some form of Pokemon NFC game. How about they focus on some real games first rather than this unabashed cash cow gimmick.

Jeez Nintendo instead of focusing on features for casuals you should focus on bringing core titles to the Wii U. Seriously how are they going to implement NFC into core Gamez?

I can see NFC being a huge hit with super smash bros... They can add new fighters through NFC... And I get to have Nintendo desk decorations all over the place
