AMD teases 'super cool, super-secret project' with these two screenshots

DSOGaming writes: "It appears that AMD has been up to something lately, as the red team teased today a 'super-secret project' that is said to be 'super cool'." (AMD, Dev, PC, Tech)

I don't see what this could be tbh. Looks like either an engine or a game, but neither screen is very impressive. It is a work in progress though.

Well AMD will be revealing it in the next few weeks so at least we don't have to wait too long to find out what this is.

Maybe its a new technology they're working on for their next gen cards. Who knows?

AMD doesn't develop games or engines. This is likely a reference to a new product they're looking to bring to the market, likely a hardware accelerated type of lighting solution.

@sjaak didn't they do that with the Leo demo, combining the best feature of forward and deferred rendering.

I have no clue!

maybe this is just a lot of worthless hype to help in the build up of AMD announcing GDDR6.

that's what I'm really interested in from AMD GDDR6 which is due 2014!
Tech demo most likely. pc bench marks me.. Games are way more fun.

Looks like some sort of benchmark or tech demo

If this would be a game, I don't think that AMD would be the one's teasing this.

Perhaps a game engine from AMD?

They are showing off the power of the next mobile graphics lol. (Wouldn't that be crazy if i was right). All i know is that the screenshots look like crap. Playing in 1080p definately wouldn't make that look any better
Statix  +   771d ago
It's either a tech demo of what mobile hardware can do with AMD processors, or it's a tech demo of a new real-time global illumination solution.

Yeah its definitely some Mobile graphic device. It looks like a PSP game

AMD 7970 GHz ambient lighting edition. Now with extra shiny roads and realistic mannequins! LOL

Anyways still looks interesting, tbh it reminds me a tech demo they released back in 2005/6 Candy Shop or something like that.

Looks like they are trying to show off shader effects?

Lara Crofts hair looks much better than those screen shots.

It only makes sense that they are showing off the power for their next mobile chipset. Tablet, smartphone and that sort of platform. It couldn't be anything PC, or next-gen console, the power is just not there.
landog  +   771d ago
next gen consoles are using moblie parts, sadly
porkChop  +   771d ago
The PS4 uses a mobile CPU, yeah, though it's a pretty good one. The GPU has been heavily customized with Sony technology though. In terms of raw power, it's right up there with some of the best desktop GPU's on the market. It's faster than an HD 7850. For a console, that's very good.

TressFX for pubes. You heard it here first!

Yeah I think this is a lighting thing, because everything else doesn't look that good.
