OXCGN’s Metal Gear Rising: Revengeance review- That’s not a knife, THIS is a knife…

OXCGN:

"We’ve already been treated to multiple titles with more set to arrive in the coming month that have once again set the bar for what we are to expect from various genres.

Metal Gear Rising: Revengeance, a move away from traditional Metal Gear stealth and into hack ‘n slash, features so much action it’s almost as ridiculous as the overly long title it sports." (Metal Gear Rising: Revengeance, PS3, Xbox 360) 8/10

For some reason this game just doesn't appeal. I prefer the feel of DMC.

The over the top slicing is strange..GOW for me with Hack n slash.

How can slicing something be over the top?

So, you're sticking with the same old formulae? At least MGR:R brings something new to to the table.

Jack the Ripper! I enjoyed it and thought it was overall very well done. And excellent addition to the MG series IMO.

I enjoyed the slicing mechanic. This is how a Star Wars game should have done it. I hated it in KOTOR (great game btw) or any Star Wars game where you had to hit a dude like 10-15 times with a LIGHTSABER and he just grunts "caught me slipping"

This is why Jedi Knight will forever be the best Star Wars Multiplayer series to date. Its a shame LA never picked it back up for more titles. Lightsabers actually slice off limbs, and people die when sliced. I can not get into TOR for this reason. Its unrealistic to its own universe.
