EA CFO corrects media on micro-transaction statements; teases potential sports franchies

Last week, Electronic Arts CFO Blake Jorgensen supposedly announced that all future EA games would feature micro-transactions but today at the Wedbush Technology Conference in New York City, he reiterated his statement: "the community read that to mean all our games and that's really not true."

According to the previously mentioned technology conference, EA is excited to continue working on the popular franchises they produce including new sports franchises. Of course mingered in this cluster of sports titles, Electronic Arts wants to bring out a new property that they aquired from THQ before the online auction of the companies assets: UFC. (Android, Casual games, EA, iPad, iPhone, Mobile, Next-Gen, PC, PS3, PS4, Xbox 360, Xbox One)

It's not correcting the media when you change your mind after a backlash.

Just for once admit that you overestimated the consumers tolerance for fleecing.

Look like Blake Jorgensen is doing some damage control.

Seriously with the position he's in he's should at least think twice(or more, okay definitely more) before he speaks.

I wouldn't say that he was wrong in correcting the media from his former statement but then he reiterates what the media perceived that he said.

I was just commenting on the power of the gamer community, when casual people buy microtransaction items and gamers complain in silence.....we get our pockets milked.

At least EA stepped up a responded to the backlash fairly quickly.

Companies that want to replace gameplay with cash need to die. Time was those 'extras' like the big truck, the better gun were rewards for playing well, discovering items in the game you just paid $60 for!!

What next charging us to be able to CONTROL our characters (instead of loads of QTE and CUTSCENES)... seems most games are going that way with over use of QTE/CUTSCENES already(just no actual fleecing us for the interaction part - yet)

They wont be happy until they are making pure movies, and we just sit back and pay pay pay to be allowed to 'watch' a frustrated Hollywood wannabe's vision. They should be paying us!
