Upon the PS4 announcement that took place on February 20th, fans around the world knew that 2013 was going to be a big year for Sony. Sony is setting the stage on what to expect from next-gen hardware with their PS4 and they are doing a great job of that. Even before the announcement of the upcoming PS4 gamers knew that 2013 was going to be a huge year for Sony. With hot exclusive titles, information about Vita pricing and the announcement of their newest console; Sony seems nearly unstoppable. (PS Vita, PS3, PS4)

PlayStation just has more to offer once E3 hits. It’s a tough contender but I still want to know what Microsoft has before I completely make up my mind of which I am more anticipating. So far Sony hasn’t really done anything wrong in my eyes.

I am waiting on microsoft just to see what they have, if microsoft delivers then maybe in at the end of the next generation I will get there product but for now I doubt they will stand out like the PS4.

Launching the xbox as a core gaming device and then going casual is a something I will never forget, basically my trust is low for them and only a generation of quality games from them can make me buy there console again.

All they need to do is find the balance of both core and casuals but it seems that is not going to happen.

The hype train has crashed into reality, because I've talked to a bunch of people already since the "reveal" and pretty much everyone is ready for it.

There's so much momentum behind the Playstation brand at this stage it would be hard for Sony to not do well. The mistakes and trials Sony faced at the beginning of the PS3's life are highly unlikely to repeat themselves, which could see Playstation return to a majorly dominant platform.

Not to count MS out but they've yet to give us any reason to believe they've shifted focus back to gaming and rumours surrounding Xbox 3 are mostly awful. Let's hope they clear the air once and for all in their announcement, whenever that will be.

Agree with you 100 percent. I hope MS doesnt doom itself but rumors are bad. Ive been a Xbox fan for a long time but am so please with what PlayStation has to offer to gamers I might be will to change teams if MS gave me a reason to want to. I like games, when i look in the mirror I see a gamer not a controller! hahaha

Price is the only thing that could kill the Playstation 4.

That was said this gen but the PS3 is on its way to 100million consoles sold.
KwietStorm  +   947d ago
Doesn't matter. Nobody *wants* to pay $600 for a PS4 . Yea you got the fanatics saying they would, But nobody is asking for Sony to charge them that price, and both the economy and Sony are in a different place than when PS3 launched. They literally can't afford to price themselves out of the majority market this time. I'm really hoping for a fair price so the PlayStation brand can become the household name again, and developers will take notice.

Well not only do we have a new console coming our way with loads of potential but we also have a ton of PS3 games heading our way.So I would say this is going to be a great year.

1. PS4 launch with the best possible comparable console launch games.

2. PS3 price drop with the best possible PS3 games

3. Vita price drop with great PSV games released.

Ppl who whine about price should try to get a cheap Wii...
Sony has build a monter, its worth the price kids.

With their momentum as great as it is at the moment, it'll be hard for Sony to not do well. MS will really have to wow everyone in order to steal back some thunder. However, based on the rumors thus far, it's not looking good.

Now I am well aware that they are rumors, but if the PS4 was an example, then they won't be TOO far from the truth.

It's over, Sony has this one, without even showing the console

I can't believe that there are people who still think that the PS3 is not the best damn console this gen, and I'm saying this as a gamer who owns both systems. Seriously, the best exclusives, PS+ with tons of free games and contents, amazing PSN exclusives titles.. etc. I have enjoyed this gen and there's still more to come. The Last of Us can't come soon enough!
DigitalRaptor  +   947d ago
I can't say I agree with this. Everyone has their opinions on games. Some people prefer Halo, Mario, Zelda to Uncharted or God of War and many enjoy paying for the benefit of P2P online play, because they have to.

BUT, where I can't fault you is that the PS3 has a lots more diversity in terms of games and services. PS+ lays a steaming brick on XBL in terms of value and consumer focus. Sony support more risky and ambitious games and continue to support franchises that perhaps are not massively successful. New IPs EVERY SINGLE YEAR. They also support their console with games for longer than most. There are at least 5 exclusive games that interest me this year, which is also the year PS4 comes out: Ni no Kuni, Sly Cooper, God of War, The Last of Us and Beyond: Two Souls.

What I can't believe though, is that there are people out there who think that the PS3 is a piece of crap with barely any good games. Now that is unbelievable.

Next gen, unless the media decides to curb stomp the PS4 before it comes out, it should return to a solid position. No one can make the arguments of: slow load times, inferior ports, no games, hard to develop for, Blu-ray is doomed (even though it's now industry standard, LOL), "shitty" online, crappy controller etc. I'm sure the fanboys will come up with their excuses: "No backwards compatibility blararargah", "PS4 Eye compied Kinect blarararaggh", "PS+ is a rip off blaraahghghghgghgahhg". et cetera, et cetera.

It's powerful. It's hugely developer friendly. It's connected, simple, social, and GAMER-focused. PS4 will return to the hearts and minds of those that call themselves gamers, and people will realise what a catch PlayStation has always been as a gaming brand and for the industry.

Agree with everything you said except...

"...many enjoy paying for the benefit of P2P online play, because they have to."

...who enjoys paying for anything, especially when it's free elsewhere.

Very well said though +bubs.

I'm more interested in whether or not Puppeteer and The Last Guardian are gonna get a 2013 release date.

its goin to be great because the ps3 is a beast. remember back when, and even now, people try to put the doom and gloom over the playstation brand. but no, the playstation just steamrolls ahead, with excellent value, new and exciting ips, and a vast library of games for every genre. no slowing down in sight. another thing the ps3 does do well is drink the tears of the doom and gloomers and naysayers. bring those cups boys! tonight we feast on those tears!

I'm guessing E3 2013, Sony will be more focused on PS4 but I hope they announce some games for Vita. It's such a powerful handheld but it lacks in the games department in comparison to the 3DS. Last of Us cannot come any sooner! Also looking forward to Beyond: Two Souls. Here's hoping GT6 will be announced at E3 as a launch title for PS4
