GTA 5: 8 ways PS4 could improve the Los Santos experience (CVG)

GTA5 isn't confirmed for PS4 - but given its estimated $138m development cost, we doubt publisher Take Two is ruling it out. (Grand Theft Auto V, PC, PS3, PS4, Xbox 360, Xbox 720)

I just couldn't imagine what the game would look like if it was built for the ground up for next gen consoles.

It would be amazing. Open world games are the games that are going to benefit the most from 8gb of RAM. Now, if they just ported GTA V from current to next-gen, then will we see what was mentioned in the article and that's it. Built from the ground up, we are looking at fully detailed and realized cities and environments. Look at how much detail devs could fit into GTA IV or Skyrim, and remember that was for consoles with 512mb of memory or less. These new ones are packing 8GBs.

This isn't out of the norm, all current gen R* open world games have had similar budgets. It's been years in the making I doubt pushing it back 5 to 6 months will allow them to put the game on next-gen platforms.
