Is Assassin’s Creed IV: Black Flag Straying A Bit Too Far Away From Its Roots?

An eGamer journalist asks the question of whether the newly announced Assassin's Creed IV: Black Flag is straying too far from its roots, and talks about how it has become increasingly difficult to classify what exactly makes an Assassin's Creed title. (Assassin's Creed IV: Black Flag, Culture, PC, PS3, PS4, Xbox 360, Xbox One)

It's a fine line. Games that don't change are called "stale" while games that do change are called "alienating" -- or straying too far from it's root as debated in this article.

Any change (or there lack of) will have such a reaction from a portion of the gaming community. It's how people look at sequels in general -- they expect more of the same that made the game soo good last time, but at the same time they want to experience new things from the franchise.

It's hard to please all of the fan base, and developers end up making tough choices (or risky ones).

Now with that said, the last thing I wanna do is spend hours and hours doing Naval battles. I did not like those parts from AC3 at all.
