Battlefield 3 DLC is forcing industry to “step up” its game, says DICE

Battlefield 3′s DLC slate has been rather content-heavy, delivering more than just basic map packs or character re-skins. DICE producer Craig Mcleod has stressed that the industry could take a leaf out of the studio’s book and “step up” it’s approach to DLC packs moving forward.

I do enjoy the DLCS but it worrys me for the next bf, i know how much EA love money whats to stop them putting so many weapons in the main game cause they know people will buy them extra.

Honestly im against the Season pass option at times but BF3 has definately alot of content worth the pass price. 4 packs, assignments, new modes, trophies, and more guns.

It just makes the game incredibly frustrating, hopefully Battlefield 4 does the right thing- and gives us the option to have server-side hit detection.

Last gen this would have been free. This is just stuff cut out of the game. This is why I only buy GOTY editions. You can spend your money on this DLC, I won't.

@chochise - Last gen the biggest selling ( by far ) console didn't have a network in place to support DLC. Also, there were far fewer people who told the industry it was ok to sell them things that were traditionally free, like online gameplay and voice chat. The industry noticed people were willing to pay for things like that, so they're trying to find other things to sell you. Business is business.

You obviously have no clue what you are talking about. Battlefield 2 had expansions also and guess what? They cost money. I think the Tampa map was the only one that was given away for free. I may not like all the BF3 DLC packs but the amount of content in the DLC packs alone would make another complete game just based on the new maps and modes.

I agree with the whole paying for WORTHY DLC thing. But your analogy about parents...erm... your parents aren't trying to make a profit out of you; EA/DICE are. You can argue that your parents might buy you things to make you like them if, per say, you were mad at them. But in the end, even if you were still mad at them, they'd still love you, and buy you more stuff anyways.
Any corporation, be it EA, Sony, MS, Ninty, or Ubisoft, 'some' of them do indeed care about their customers - but the bottom line is; it's all about the money.

It's a very good game. I think the maps, assignments, weapons and vehicles they added in each of the DLC packs were substantial. The price for all the DLC's seems a bit steep, but I'm still on the fence about how I feel in that respect.

Overall, I would say they did a good job, def supported their game for a good, long while.

I played CTF on the railroad map and it is awesome, especially on a dirt bike!

awwww, I haven't purchased any of the DLC yet but I really want to play CTF and shoot someone off of a dirt bike.

I might have to buy End Game because it does look like a lot of fun.
