Earlier today a report by VideoGamer.com claimed that due to lower-than-epected sales of Dead Space 3, Dead Space 4 and the franchise as a whole was cancelled. EA has responded and has denied those claims.
It's dead to me.
Dead to most, but it still can be revived with a good horror game like the first one.
Games that give you lots of firepower aren't scary... I though DS2 was much more entertaining than the first. Silent Hill 2, Amnesia, etc are horror games...
I predict the next dead space to have necro-morphs with frickin' laser beams attached to their frickin' heads.
dont forget the grenades LMAO
Yup I don't why it isn't to most DS fans, they messed up the third game completely, it just one little mistake but something Capcom already screwed up on twice. I mean you can keep saying "It's not a bad game that much" but in the end it's still bad in some way...why settle for an average game when the past games were amazing I think it still might be dead...that or they'll try again with one last game and will be it the most over the top action game ever....just like what Capcom did with RE6, instead of fixing RE5s problems they tried even harder to appeal to a bigger audience.
Messed it up completely? Man, that's a stretch. I'm still playing it and loving the hell out of it also. The game is technically astounding and gameplay wise, there's very little fault here. It may not be as scary as the first but neither was the second one. Dead Space 3 in no way compares to the butchery of the Resident Evil franchise, the latest one which I've seen selling for as low as $10.
Messed it up completely? No. Took some steps back? Yes. It's still an above average game.
"Completely"? That's not entirely accurate. I found myself enjoying it.
It is no where close to the change of the Resident Evil franchise. IMO the action segments in Dead Space 3 are just as actiony as the segments in Dead Space 2 like the planet fall, tram and the necromorph boss fight with explosive canisters.
ehh, it happen to SOCOM tried to plea the masses they failed, now its DS turn
People have you played DeadSpace3. Its like the first game but bigger. Its amazing. I've enjoyed every moment in the game.
I enjoyed it but it's not as good as the first two. People are right to complain a bit, but as usual the whining is way over the top.
Its good but not good as DS1 or DS2. Id rank it last.
That means nothing. Look at their wording, you cannot cancel something the doesn’t exist.
Yep, I guess it's just "an important IP" that they'll never make another game for.
I have lost faith in the franchise. It will not be hyped for the next game until I have played it. Same goes with Resident Evil, Metal Gear Solid, Call of Duty, Final Fantasy and many, many more.
What's wrong with Metal Gear?
I feel MGS has to redeem itself after MGS4. I thought the game was fine for the first 2 acts, but after that it was just a chase mission, boss fights, action scenes and walking past robots. WTF? I prefer sneaking past guards like in the other Metal Gear games. I just found the whole thing after act 2 VERY disappointing, especially after the standards set by MGS3.
You must be playing a different MGS4 cause the one I played is by far one of the best games I've ever played...ever.
" I prefer sneaking past guards like in the other Metal Gear games. I just found the whole thing after act 2 VERY disappointing, especially after the standards set by MGS3. " you know octocamo existed in MGS4 for a reason the leather coat was just for show mostly.
I wish EA and Capcom would cancel themselves.
Thats a very sad opinion. You want 10,000 people to lose their jobs, just because you don't like the games they make. News Flash, you don't have to buy them...How about you grow up a little.
Im sure those people would find job easily, EA is killing their creativity.
That's capitalism. People mess up and create several products that don't make money (thus not serving enough people or not properly planned) have their companies shrink or die, other companies are grown or created and new jobs become available under more competent companies. EA's policies are having terrible effects on other studios. If a big, terrible company like EA shut down or greatly shrank, their policies (which turns out, don't work all that well) would become less popular, and might lead to a more stable game industry all over. You might end up with way MORE job positions. There's nothing cold-hearted about wanting a detrimental corporation to close.
@SilentNegotiator Its completely cold hearted when it doesn't effect you one bit. I don't like Apple, I think they are way overpriced for what you get, but I don't want them to close. There is nothing detrimental about EA, just the fact that you don't like their games. I'm sorry, but that is an extremely childish view on if a company should close or not. Fifa and Madden alone prove that they have customers that want their games. Fifa sells around 15 million units a year and has competition from another game. How about you turn your hatred to the Oil industry who keep posting higher and higher record profits year after year.
EA's push for DLC, microtransactions, pre-orders, etc has spread like a fire. They don't work and usually take away content from the base games. That last comment of yours shows your incredible ignorance. You know nothing about any of my views just because I explained how capitalism works and that bad companies shrinking is a good thing. What makes you think I don't dislike oil companies and their unnecessary government subsidies? What makes you think I would discuss non-gaming companies on a game website over game companies? And furthermore, I didn't say I don't like their games. Lying about the content of another comment....you should be a politician.
yea ride the EA and capcom hate wagon, seriously 1st dmc hate now its this whole dead space hate? you all find the smallest things to bitch about when it comes to gaming, (dead space has OPTIONAL microtransactions which don't affect the game what so ever) "oh dead space is ass since it went that route ugh dead space is horrible" really?? I don't support what EA does when it comes to microtransactions but i don't wish bad on the franchise and dmc wasn't even bad. ya keep bitching and one day will cause the end of gaming in general cuz everyone is never satisfied.
Or companies could stop giving gamers what they don't want and instead of thinking of new ways of charging of people, use that energy to creating a standout title within their means. The last generations I've been in never had this many complaints and yeah people they were not as internet savvy as they were now but you know how disheartening it feels when I ask a friend to try a game he has online, he tells me it has an online pass. If gaming dies it will be from the same cause like the last crash, the companies......
There are almost always a 1 week trial to online passes, so your complaint is completely unwarranted. Why shouldn't companies be paid for you using their servers? You say there weren't as many complaints in the past, but there probably weren't as many entitled people either...
Please, as if playing the Socom series (Playstation 2), Metal Gear Online (Playstation 2) and Battlefield 2: Modern Combat was just my imagination and I didn't have to pay for any servers (BFII is still online by the way and don't let me get started on Counter Strike). You right that we have to pay for their servers but isn't why we BOUGHT the game in the first place. If the game is accepted then they will a make enough sales to cover it. They want more money for the servers you ask? Easy make great expansion that are great enough to stand on their own instead of feeling it was supposed to be there in the first place. Entitled? I've never heard that word before........................ ............................... ............................... ............................... ............................... ............................... ............................../ s
i didn't believe the other article anyway. There are alot of people on my friends list playing it. It's a great game but keep up the hate articles for it.It's not going change anything. Hate it or love it ,sells of it are going be high. I'd bet Ni No kumi sold well as well. Alot of people on my friends list have been playing it as well. I get and idea of whats hot that way. Not purfect but it gives me an idea of whats good. N4g isnt the majority of gamers Gamers don't cry about ever game that released lke alot of the people on here do.
This franchise is awesome. I'm glad there would be more of it. Note to the weinig girls that get upset if the momy didn't create a game like they wanted to: Move on to another news article.
I will give them ONE more chance. Honestly DS3 was the worst in the series, but it's still a fun game on its own. If DS4 is the same generic BS they did in the 3rd then I am done. I still have faith it can return to its' roots. Although Capcom had a chance to redeem themselves with RE:6, and completely FAILED! who knows...hopefully they realize the key to sales will be to appeal to the hardcore fans, not appeal to different audiences, cuz it obviously did not work out.
Not dead.... but on its last legs? on life support? Why not release the sales figures if the game is proof that EA's formula works? Thank goodness EA is not involved in messing up the Bioshock games. A rapacious publisher can ruin just about anything unless creative developers -- and gamers -- push back. I don't think that EA has hurt Battlefield much; but its influence is deadly when dealing with games like Dragon Age and Mass Effect. Sometimes a game is better when content with selling three/four million copies rather than aiming at five or six million -- and selling its soul in the process.
maybe it's not dead to EA but it is to me with the direction they took it
It's dead to me. They took what made the original so special and took a huge sh*t on it in exchange for way more action-shooter nonsense and way less survivor-horror.
Such a shame, I was happy this morning to hear it had gone under.
Its coming to a point where gamers want certain franchises to fall. It really has gotten that bad with these companies milking and changing focus on the fanbase for the "newcomer" fanbase which is a fancy wording for casual. Capcome, EA, Activision and now Ubisoft are all victims of either milking or want "that fanbase" which leads to franchise fatigue or core abandoning franchises. Ubisoft: AC after AC is very tiresome and not allowing the fanbase as whole to finish or complete previous Assassin Creed's. What's even worst I saw a TV ad for Assassins Creed IV. EA: Medal Of Honor was a franchise that was beginning to be annually or "every other yearly" rotated franchise that fell flat. EA was clearly competing for COD but the game suffered from terrible story, terrible MP and uninspiring gameplay. And fans were not looking forward to it Medal Of anyway. Microtrans in every game so a noob can easily become a super noob with out properly investing anytime in in the game. So EA is giving people the option to pay with there virtual wallets to get get boosts and upgrades early. Lame, Lazy, and not a gamer in my book. Capcome: Destroyed the very soul of RES for the sake of (once again) that casual fanbase. They even said Future Street Fighter games will suffer the fate of the casual. Im fighting game fan and there's no way Im buying a fighting game that's accessible to noobs. Fighting games now are notorious for being noob friendly and cheapness these days (SC5) (Tekken)(Street Fighter currently.) Charging for content that's already on the disc is huge scam that they continue to get away with. Activision: Need I say more? Cod, cod, COD every year and worst part each iteration is worst then the previous. Becoming more and more casual friendly. And overcharging for uninspiring maps doesn't help anything. Even fans are taking notice at what they're buying and aren't supporting COD for very long. Decline in average sales, decline in DLC sales, and overall decline in player interest and high trade in at gamestop is a sure sign that people are voting with there wallet and time. Wake up Acti, COD's not doing as well as you think and will only get worse. And mainstream is taking notice Crysis sold less then expected and now Deadspace. I don't know if I want these games to "die" but these Ip's need to take a vacation, a leave of absence, some soul searching, Take a a back seat come next gen. As well Publishers evaluating on these Ip's and think of ways to make it innovative, fresh, brand new again.
It aint Dead(alledgy) and it Dang sure aint alive so what is it?
a necromorph ?
it died for me when it stopped being a true horror game, the first scared me to death, the second not so much. The last game it just wasnt the same genre let alone scare me.
