The automatic runner genre, arguably the most pared-back form of the 2D platform game, has a strong heritage on mobile platforms and in Flash games. Titles like Canabalt, Temple Run and Jetpack Joyride have strong reputations for being polished games which are well-suited to short play sessions and which represent the purest form of gaming as a reaction test. Making the shift to consoles and thus the change in perception from casual to core audiences, however, seemed at first to be an unusual move; by paring down the gameplay to a limited number of inputs it seems like the capacity of consoles or PCs to offer more complex experiences is being ignored. Yet Runner2 (or, to use it’s full title, Bit.Trip Presents…Runner2: Future Legend of Rhythm Alien) is clearly very much a core game in its presentation and amount of content; by framing its gameplay in the traditional terms of non-automated platform games (themed worlds, unlockable characters and a gradual progression of abilities), Runner2 has the sense of achievement beyond simply beating a high score that a good game needs.
“There are definitely more interesting 2D platformers on the market but that doesn't mean Runner2 is a bad choice for fans of the genre to check out either; particularly, if you like having your reaction speed challenged.” - Martijn van Gent from Video Chums.

There is hardly anything wrong with this addictive and utterly crazy game. From the moment the utterly bizarre advertisement pops up and Charles Martinet’s voice flows through the speakers you know you are in for a crazy and delightful experience.
There is so much to keep you entertained with this Cross-Buy title and the desire to play it through twice is an easy choice to make. BIT.TRIP Presents… Runner2: Future Legend Rhythm Alien is mad fun for the whole family and I cannot recommend it enough.
Runner2 is the new (or old) 2D sidescroller, PlayStation 4 release by Gaijin games, which came out back on February 24th but if you’ve been paying attention you’ll probably know that the game was released on other platforms back in 2013.
