In an exclusive interview inside this month’s issue of FirstLook Magazine, GRID 2′s senior producer Vincent Meulle has confirmed that the reason cockpit view isn’t featured in the sequel is purely down to technological constraints associated with the current generation of consoles.
Seriously just a trash headline dude. I want cockpit views on console an if you can't engineer it on current consoles you're a dud dev.
And it's not like Grid's racing experience is any good in the first place. I am a racing fan above all other genres, have been since before even the NES days. I've played them all (exaggeration, but more than most), and GRID is damn near the #1 worst automobile racing game of all time as far as I'm concerned. I don't know what those "cars" are supposed to be handling like in GRID, but it CERTAINLY isn't any kind of 4 wheeled vehicle in this reality.
To me the physics in GRID are quite obviously the PERFECT physics for riding a huge inner-tube down a 90 degree snow slope, and then they just skinned over their awesome snow tubing sim with car racing.
When it comes to physics and handling, which are the most imprtant thing in racing games, especially "realistic" racing games which GRID is trying to be, GRID 1 was an absolute joke, and I don't feel like I'm exaggerating when I say it's the worst racing game ever made. I literally CRINGE every single time I see people on forums and boards suggest GRID to people looking for a racing game. WORST ADVICE EVER !! Unless of course you're in that niche group of gamers in need of a really good snow-tubing simulator. GRID is great for that.
Code Disasters strikes again!
There's no reason to buy when there are so many high quality racing game alternatives.
I love driving from cockpit view.
yea, but that's part of the immersion and excitement for many other GRID players. It makes it more of a challenge to race with precision and avoid the temptation to bounce off other cars to make a pass.
Just another reason why Codemaster's shoulda left the cockpit cam in the game.. that way players who still want to use it have the option, and those who preferr third person or the bumper cam have the option as well.
What a lame excuses... Fact is that they do not want to spend time improving the interior details inside each car. They blame "console owners" and not themselves for not polishing and improving the interior details of each car.
Console Owners can press a button and change the views if they want....
Hit grabbing at its finest(worst).
but seriously, they clearly cant be arsed to put in the spanner time on the game engine to get this to work, nor the dev time to make the cockpit, now that's what I call cutting corners.
well, i'll wait for a price drop

That's the reason why I love games like GT5, the more recent Forza games (after Forza 2 they addd a cockpit cam), Midnight Club LA, PGR series, the Original Grid... etc.
If you're really into cars, and you really want to feel that you're 'in the race', nothing beats the immersion of a nice detailed cockpit view.
As far as racing games go nowadays, most have a cockpit view (the bumper or hood view doesn't count IMO), so unfortunatley the fact that there wont be a cockpit view for GRID 2 means I will have to pass on this one, and stick with the GT and Forza series for my racing needs. Nonetheless, I think those franchises do it better than anyone anyway.
Btw it's a great game and it's free.
F1 games I play with cockpit cam, GT5 with cockpit cam, NFS: Shift with cockpit cam, Ferrari Challenge with cockpit cam, Ferrari Racing Legends with cockpit cam. Hell I'd play GTA IV with cockpit cam in most vehicles if it had it!
I remember reading an article a while back where they said they couldn't justify spending the dev time doing cockpits when only a small percentage of players use that view.
Well, I'm on of the small percentage, and won't be buying this game.
Codemasters has no real excuse for this omission
