Dangerous Game: Nintendo Taking Monster Hunter from Sony

Gi - Gird your loins. Sharpen those knives. And sit in front of the fire pit preparing that succulent hamhock. Monster Hunter (MH) is coming back, and in a major way for the Nintendo Wii U and 3DS with Monster Hunter 3 Ultimate. For the uninitiated, Monster Hunter is an immensely popular action role-playing game, where the player character (obviously) hunts monsters for rewards. With incredibly addicting and rewarding gameplay, one can get lost for many hours tracking the elusive beasts the game offers. While more of a cult hit for North American gamers, Monster Hunter is kind of a huge deal in the Japanese market. With Nintendo capitalizing on the franchise first, Sony may have been dealt another blow in the handheld market. (Culture, Monster Hunter 3 Ultimate, Nintendo, Sony)

I'm sorry but isn't Ragnarok Odyssey, and Soul Sacrifice, plus many other similar games coming to the PS Vita and the PS3/PS4?

Sony doesn't really need to bank on MH as it is time to move onto bigger better games. Nintendo in the meantime has been stripped of all third party games, but of course if you mention such things, you're obviously hate Nintendo Right?

nintendo NEEDS 3rd party to support them?

look, all i said was what i did up above. I just know that Sony is not content with nintendo swooping in from the sky and cLamping away what rightfully belonged to sony. Monster Hunter. .. u think sony is okay with bullying around the work place?

Dude if it was rightfully Sony's then Sony would have done everything in their power to keep it theirs.

And yes, Nintendo does need 3rd Party....Everyone Does.

bigger and better? Good look with that. It is a challenge.

LOLs!

Snatched?

History repeats itself.
Remember Capcom 5 for Game Cube?

Even if Sony doesn't spit, it will happen again.

No, it sounds like Capcom are using old engines from previous Sony platforms and pasting them onto current Nintendo consoles (because they're inferior in terms of power) rather than making a new one for PS4.

That's what happened to the PS3.

Being harder to develop for and 3rd in overall sales at the time, the Wii was the more profitable choice. This is why Capcom changes the direction of MHTri from PS3 to Wii.

Pissed my off a lot, because for months it was known that the game was coming to the PS3.

Even if there is a MH for the Wiiu, it isn't built from the ground up for the Wii. Mostly it is a HD upgrade from the Wii version.

All this means that once again Capcom are shying away from spending extra time to make a brand new MH experience.

Capcom is very good at BSing everything.

Judging by the demo on Wii U, Nintendo can keep it. One of the worst looking and gameplay I have seen in a while.

Just horrible.
Mr_Stark  +   783d ago
That's because it's a Wii game. It hasn't been enhanced visually. As for gameplay you've obviously never played a Monster Hunter game before.

Hehe. Someone is crying loudly. Everyone come and see.

See the reason is that this game is an HD remake of the Minster Hunter 3g for the 3ds. The 3ds version came out i believe a year before give or take then Capcom decided to also make it for the Wii U but HD enhanced. Hence the name Monster Hunter 3G HD.

Today...

"Monster Hunter is played out. We don't want that shit bro. Ragnarock is way better for shizzle. Lol stupid Nin gets leftovers from Sony."

The truth....

"Omg why why WHY! I love MH and now the 3ds gets tri and 4? What tri is also on Wii-U in HD with cross game saves? Bfnefkgjvljevgmleuventvnj!!!!! ! ARRRRRRRGHHHHH! Why can't we get it on ps3 and vita with cross games? My reason to exist is gone."

6 months ago:

"Omg we don't need a 100th rehash of Monster Hunter 3, we have Soul Sacrifice - a brand new game, made from the ground up for our system by one of Capcoms greatest minds. Nintendo can keep the left overs."

6 months later:

"Haha Sony fanboys will cry, we have your 100th rehash of MH. If you want to play it again buy our system."

"Dude, we have the Monster Hunter successor in Soul Sacrifice and we have Ragnorak Odyssy as well as an incoming God Eater 2. If you really love MH games, buy our system, not only will you get to play more of them, but Capcom won't be conning you via editions over editions of the same friggin' game."
