Metal Gear Rising Revengeance Review | Game Over Online

Game Over Online: "Revengeance is an exciting and unique entry into the Metal Gear milieu. It’s a perfect combination of Metal Gear stylings and Ninja Gaiden frenetic action. The one confusing aspect of the title seems to be to what fan base it should appease. If one is a fan of the core Metal Gear series but not one of Ninja Gaiden, this game will not bring anything to the table. Gaiden fans will delight in the gameplay details regardless of the universe it is set in. The end result? If fast-paced hacking and slashing mixed with a light dose of Saturday afternoon TV melodrama is your bag, Revengeance serves up several helpings of the ninja-style combat you’re hungering for." (Metal Gear Rising: Revengeance, PS3, Xbox 360) 90/100

$60 for 5 hours. Seriously should have been no more than $40 with that length. Plus the story was boring for a Metal Gear game. I don't care what Kojima says, the game's story felt disconnected from his style of storytelling, and oozed of Bayonetta style narrative cheesiness (I loved Bayonetta btw, but it had one of the crappiest/B-movie stories this gen). I'm tired of the hype train. Longevity-wise, some of these games are not worth the $60 price tag...Why do I keep listening to early reviews? Yeah MGS4 Was short too, but at least it came with MGO for free (which lasted me 4 years). But with games like Rising, After 2-3 days, it dawns on me that the initial excitement is gone. These games need to keep our interest for longer-_-.

I remember mgs4 being pretty long... I suppose if you skip the movies than it could be beaten much quicker, but skippin the cutscenes is as good as skippin part of the game. As for thos game... I wish it was a ps3 exclusive because this title took a huge hit graphically and didnt feel like mgs. Games a 7 at best.

Action games are paced much differently than the stealth based Metal Gear Solid games. I take it that you didn't know what you were getting yourself into before you bought the game? Because the game delivered on everything it promised.

A game starring Raiden, he's an cyborg that cuts things, lots of combat variety, boss battles, fast action, new characters, and he's fighting for justice. Sure, the story is campy and not complex as the Metal Gear Solid series, but it's enough to give Raiden a reason to persist.

If you were expecting more than that, then I really don't know what you had in mind when you saw the previews. As soon they showed Raiden cut a Metal Gear Ray in half, I knew exactly what the game was all about. I've had so much fun with this game.
