Ubisoft Explains The Difference Between Next Gen And PS3/360 Versions of Assassin’s Creed 4
Assassin’s Creed 4: Black Flag is a next-gen game and will also contain support for next-gen console features. Ubisoft has revealed some information on the difference between current gen and next-gen versions of the game.
(Assassin's Creed IV: Black Flag, Next-Gen, PS3, PS4, Xbox 360, Xbox One)
If next gen assassins creed looks good as that trailer does in "Real Time" then that be awesome but i bet it won't. I think showing CG in video games is wrong, immoral and should be banned.
I'm with you. I hope Ubisoft works to make each console version at its best since its releasing on Wii U, 360, PS3, PS4, and next Xbox. I want the next gen version to shine but I doubt they will.
I always thought to myself "why are singleplayer games becoming more connected these days?". It's not Sony, Microsoft and Nintendo trying to enforce us into being "always" connected. It's the publishers dicktatorship that's getting out of control. They're now saying "you'll get the best singleplayer experience only if you are always connected". Sad that companies are going to mess with the singleplayer now too. First they enforce online multiplayer, and when people don't play online they'll find any other means to get us to play online, even as far as including it in the singleplayer campaign. Sad.
I love that people assume ACIV just now started development after ACIII dropped. The team split into two after AC2. The AC2 team was developing ACIII while a team was putting out AC: Brotherhood and Revelations.
I’m assuming after the 2nd team did Revelations, they started production on ACIV: Black Flag while the 1st team finished up ACIII. And two words "Assassin's Piece" HA One Piece
At the very least they should show some gameplay, it always strikes me as odd when a trailer is nothing but CGI, that isn't what I'll be getting if I buy the game so why waste my time? show me the actual game and if it's any good I'll buy it.
(SAE)
That's fine, but trailers designed to sell a game should show gameplay, I don't condone using hype to sell a product when what's being shown has little resemblance and not much to do with the actual game.
The CGI video is an intro to the game. Revelation had one too and it looked bad ass. It just for hyping people.
Im still gonna buy it. I like AC story's. I just think the gameplay can be much better but they don't want to improve it and make it special because if they did that a lots of people won't buy. Most people want easy games..
I am still blown away - even if this is a CGI trailer. This can actually hold up against big budget Hollywood productions. I am quite impressed how far CGI came. And, none the less, some artist had to create all those character models and set pieces which might as well be used scaled down in the game. Looking forward to it - probably gonna get it for the eye candy. I have yet to finish another AC game. I usually get bored half way through and the only one I finished was the first one; even though I bought all but one.
The difference will be minimal, like Spiderman 3 for the PS2 and PS3. As for the CGI trailer, Ubisoft always release a CGI trailer first for all their AC games.
Spiderman 3 on PS3 was pretty much a completely different game from the PS2 version and the graphics were significantly better. A better comparison would probably be King Kong on Xbox and Xbox 360.
Depends Final fantasy always has some cool CG cut scenes and good graphics. When Assassin's creed uses it makes me think "Just make a movie or something".
The actual game has its cut scenes made in real time though. Ubi always show their game off pre-rendered in the early days to build hype.
I imagine there isn't much built into the actual game yet to raise the required interest of punters at this point, when there is they usually release a trailer showing in game footage (mostly combat and free running).
Either way, there has been too much Assasins Creed now for me to give a poop.
For teaser trailers, I can forgive the use of pre-renders CGI. For everything else, especially in this day and age, where real time graphics often look incredible, I can't stand it. Like the intro and outro videos in Crysis 3.. they're pre-rendered and look worse than the actual game! Take into account the often terrible video compression artifacts and it's unforgivable.
“In addition to improved graphics and physic, Next Gen versions will bring to the players new connected features allowing them to feel that even if they remain “Single Player” it will be better to be a “Single Connected Player”.
“...PS4 controller specific features”
So we are looking at an enchanced port for next gen
Yeah, pretty much. Much like the PC is right now, these next-gen consoles will be limited by the current gen if a game releases on both of them. Sure, graphics and physics will be better, but that is it. If it was next gen only, the amount of RAM the new consoles have would allow for so much more. Huge environments with so much detail that it would be hard to imagine. Due to the fact the developers are making it for current consoles though, they are only going to put as much as they can fit into those and slightly upgrade it for next gen.
They do. But unlike Activision, they actually re-invested the money to improve the tech. Each iteration of the game look mighty impressive compared to the previous version. Gameplay - well, that didn't change that much.
What destroyed all of these game series is the yearly releases. Over saturation of the exact same crap every year with no originality to branch out into other IP opportunities. I remember when it was 3 to 5 yrs before a sequel was released. Now, they're getting worse than sports games. Seriously, developers should just quit with coming up with names and just attach a year at the end of each one.
It's obvious that it will be like an hd quality(ps4) instead of normal tvs(ps3) but nothing better in the gameplay that shows the power of the console. It won't be different in content like if battlefield 4 released in current and next generations it will be different. The multiplayer will have bigger maps, more players, better performance..etc
If I think about controller specific, using the touch pad for Vita-like swipey stuff comes to mind. And that isn't exactly what id call an amazing nextgen thing...
Let them milk it, I love the series. People love their CoD, and it's not the same at all.
CoD is just map packs with a throw together single player mode that can be blown through. AC is way different, but regardless I will keep playing because I enjoy the game.
I don't share disdain for AC:BF. I'm really looking forward to seeing what this game is about. Also, i'm interested to see what the PS4 exclusive features will be.
Why do people think this is gonna be a gimmick, its pretty clear it will be using the social aspects like miiverse and psn (if they call it that on ps4). Otherwise we might see better framerates/lighting.
I read some of the comments and i am happy to see that most of the gamers aren't stupid. Developers these days try to trick players with cgi trailers and shit.
Okay, so remarkably this game actually does look and sound fantastic- much more so than III did, but I honestly don't see the Ps3 version selling that well. I know I'm gonna hold back from playing it until I can afford a Ps4...
Square completely sold FF7 just off of CGI if I recall. Nothing wrong with it imo, it does help to build hype for games. At least it does for me. But to each his or her own
The fighting/climbing system needs to be more engaging and less autopilot, its pathetic to be honest. Auto aiming an errow is an insult, you can even shoot freely in AC 3, its a lock on system for crist sake.
If they want to cater to the less developed crowd then their doing a great job.
I wonder if the Wii U version is considered a next-gen version by Ubisoft or not. If all they're doing is adding the connected features and new controller features then the Wii U could clearly handle that with Miiverse and the GamePad. And if the graphics aren't improved to the level of what we saw at the PS4 press conference I don't see any reason why the Wii U wouldn't get the better version. But then again they could be going crazy with the PS4 and third Xbox editions.
So the big difference between current gen and next gen versions is that I can be "connected"? Woo-hoo! Finally, my virtual friends can know how many arbitrary virtual goals I have achieved in a virtual world!
Am I the only one who occasionally plays games to escape the real world and most of the annoying people in it??? I can understand co-op and competitive games, but does EVERYTHING have to be "connected" nowadays?

It began being milked after AC2/Brotherhood.
I stopped buying after Revelations since it was the end of Ezio's arc, and I have no attachment to the characters nor have to worry about spoilers.
I'll just wait for other Ubi titles now... lol
always-on drm being introduced to consoles?

Stop...just effing stop. getting excited over a cgi trailer, lol
no wonder microtransactions aren't going away any time soon.

lol poor wiiU.
"“I mean, that Next Gen Consoles will allow players to have a solo experience that benefit the presence of a huge community.”
Online drm?
Game is milked? yup.
Is the only consistent assassin game? yup.
Are there any clones? no..
Is it still original compared to other games? yes..
One of a kind game? yes..
Will I buy on ps4 when it's $40? yes..
Trailer gfx was great, hopefully something we can look forward to next gen. Shows better things to come.

Could't care less about next ac game.
Just as CoD after 6.
and yet not one example is given.
too bad, Would've liked to see them take it to ancient China
Talk about gimping and milking. Sheesh.

This looks fun, I love the Pirate theme, but damn Ubisoft...

I think that attaching it to the franchise is going to make more bad than good. A standalone game without all the AC fanfare would look more fresh.
