rawDLC Opinion: Can the PlayStation 4 save the PS Vita?

Handheld consoles have taken a beating in the last year. While PlayStation’s Vita does supply a spectacular gaming experience in the palm of your hand, the platform just hasn’t had enough games on offer. The newly announced PlayStation 4 is aiming to make that a moot point. (PS Vita, PS4, Tag Invalid)

I think more key software is what will save the PSV, that said its functionality with the PS4 is definitely a move in the right direction.

Day one of PS4 launch, the PSV must be able to start remote playing the entire OS, this is important. All apps that come with the PS4 must be remote compatible with the PSV too (if it is possible to so do).

Additionally, gaikai could be very useful on the PSV.

But, I think that the PSV needs to serve as a secondary control device for the PS4. if all PS4 games are required to have PSV controller mapping for remote play, then make the PSV also function as a controller... these sort of things will help make the PSV be viable in connection with the PS4 and Sony cant skimp out on it... do it, have it ready at launch.

that said, cant wait. Love my psv, and i am sure the ps4 is going to rock.

It will be partnered better with the PS4 which should drive more sales. There also needs to be continued software that is unique to Vita.

As priced for memory cards and the unit itself lowers I expect more people willing to give it a chance. Sony has done a great job supporting Vita with Playstation Plus as well and I expect Plus to get even better when the PS4 rolls out. Gaikai will definitely come into play as well.

I've said it before and I will say it again, it was far too early to be writing the system off. Once I get a PS4 I might splurge and get a Vita while I'm at it.

Completely agree. Immediate functionality and accessibility is a must from launch if the PS Vita is going to thrive in conjunction with the PS4.

totally agree, right now, i'm still buying and playing awesome games for my psp(getting them dirt cheap too), the vita is in its infancy, as long as sony support it, which they will, and the amazing, deep rpg's come out, the nerds like me will come in droves

it needs a few more srpgs, traditional jrpgs, a few action rpgs, a couple games like monster hunter, add in some ratchet and clanks, a new jak game, maybe something like an onimusha collection

people will be all over the vita soon

the memory cards are way too expensive right now, once you can get a vita for $199 with a 16gb memory card and there a 5 or 6 must have titles, I'll be all about it!

right now i still have over 40 unfinished, awesome psp games, i can wait!

Gravity Rush is the only title any Vita owner must have. I still keep going back for more.

It is definitely not the only must have title, but it is indeed a great IP.

No. Only Vita games can save the Vita.

PS Vita games already saved me...from boredom. I play my Vita everyday.
