Preview: God of War: Ascension single-player campaign | Stevivor.com

Previewer Steve Wright writes, "If it ain’t broke, then don’t fix it. Right?

"This is what I’ve been struggling with ever since previewing the start of God of War: Ascension‘s single-player campaign. After three core console titles and a couple portable ones too, the God of War franchise is well established. There’s no denying it works, nor that it’s a huge seller for Sony." (God of War: Ascension, PS3)

I've seen some previews saying God of War: Ascension is just the same game as the previous games and the same being said for Gears: Judgement. I like them both ok but I just wish these greatly talented developers would make all new IP.

Press XXX...Y? And no parry attack? Upgrade your blades moron, you can allready unlock parry attacks in the demo! Same as additional weapons: sword and spear are there, but you first need your enemy to drop those weapons. And there are more additional weapons in the game, like clubs etc. Check the upgrade menu.

This guy will have a hard time with most games, doesn't even know how to play. Press L3 for Hyperionrun and square/triangle/cirkel have new attacks, and so on. Just try, how hard is it?

After playing the Demo it seems like the old formula as previous GOW games. but once I started to play, i realized that i cant use the same scheme as in previous GOW games. No more button mashing. The enemies seems to be more smarter and they do block and attack more viciously then previous installment. I find myself running or dodging more often to get out of the way. I have to admit, the graphic to this game is amazing. The player and AI blends into the enviroment so well that I find myself getting clobbered because i thought that I killed off all the enemies.
The author should just play angry bird instead, its seems that playing games like GOW is too complicated for him. Its a free demo, go try new stuff instead of spam the xxx and Y. Plus if he is pressing "Y" on the dual shock then he is not playing a PS3. I dont remember a PS3 dual shocking having a Y button. His credibility as a writer just went down the toilet. With that said, This is not days of the nintendo where you have only 2 action buttons. You have 10 action buttons on the PS3 dual shock, try them.

LOL, XXX Y, R1

Jump, Jump, Jump, non existent button, grapple.

Where the hell does that get you?

I dunno man:) What the hell was he doing? Took him 15 minutes to figure out the right stick. Fif-teen minutes!

1.5 seconds, tops. You flick the stick, you dodge. Can't see that, stop reviewing.

The author failed to mention all the new additions to the combat, let alone that their IS a parry system and there WILL be more weapons in this game than any other God of War. Hell, we already had use of 3 in the demo. There's a lot more wrong with the preview but I can't be bothered to write any more, I'm sure someone will leave a comment on his preview telling him what he's missed & made up.
