From GamesReviews:
"Players who want to finish Resident Evil: Revelations HD might be disappointed to learn that there will be more than a few pauses in their adventure; the game in its current state boasts loading times of well over half a minute. Although the 3DS version wasn't a great deal better, people willing to buy both the original and HD port of the game will have been hoping that a little optimization may have cut back on load times."
There's a big ol' "WTF" I'd like to give to Capcom if this turns out to be true.
It's like, at least this gen, Capcom and Square Enix are deliberately trying to do the opposite of what their fans ask for. After that gigantic ass of a failure that was RE6, you'd think that suits at Capcom would have learned their lesson but... Nooooo :)
It depends on the read speed of the lens, on how optimized the game is and for the case of cartridges the quality of the actual Chip.
Don't forget that consoles have higher textures and improve graphics to load, compared to the 3ds which is about 240p comparing to 720p.
Also I highly doubt companies will invest too much on gaming cartridges...they are just there to hold information...transfer speed is nowhere near the focus...compared to lets say space.
So what we are seeing here is a factor of really poor optimization (I mean on pc RE5 and RE6 bencmark load almost instant, even on ps3 it loaded extremely fast with more going on), and just lousy placing of assets within the game. Remember this game was made for the 3Ds hardware first:)
We'll most likely see a day 1 patch to fix this issue:).
I already have it for 3Ds, so I will not be purchasing it...I might have if it came on the vita or if it had Coop.
This is just a cash in for 40$, go to your local game store if you have a 3Ds and you can can find it for anywhere 10$-15$ used and $20 new. Canadaian prices at least.
Good luck!
Fyi
Load times were very long on the 3Ds as well, but not this long!
This is a straight port. Loading times do not improve on a port. Its the fact of life. If you wanna play then play. Don't expect it all to be perfect when its coming from a mobile gaming platform.
Oh DMC4, your legacy will live forever.
Is teh problem.
In terms of loading, it should be a little faster than its console counterparts, really.
It'd still be nice for them to get that down though, of course.
Still, these loading times are in specific areas, and you always know when one's coming up. It wasn't THAT big of an inconvenience on the 3DS.
At least I hope they spell the games' title good on the boxart.
i can safely say the singleplayer is full, this extra content is not all that much which is just related to the raid mode side of things
Single player or not, you can't possibly sell an inferior version on superior consoles. I mean even Peace Walker HD came with more...and the collection came with 3 games on one disk for 40$ then quickly discounted to 30$....this is absolutely high way robbery!
Also...it might be cheaper if you bought it for 3Ds including purchasing a 3Ds console.
I mean you can purchase a used console anywhere from 50-100$, a new 100-160 (depending on sale) + the 3Ds verison for 20$.
So average scenerio lets say you cheapen out, get a used 3Ds for 80$ + 20-40$ for the game...you pay about 3 times more but walk out with superior version with coop, and a brand new console....and portability!
Shame on Capcom
Unoptimised games with 30+ seconds worth of load times where you just stand around doing nothing is not fun. If you're going to have long load times at least fill them with something interesting to do while it loads.
Games nowadays give you cutscenes, interesting dialogue, in-game masked loads (via on-rails sequences or some such gameplay feature). Multiple ways of hiding loading times while still keeping you focused and interested in the game you're playing. Watching a wheel go round for 30+ seconds isn't interesting in any way shape or form.
It's about time Japanese devs caught up with the rest of the world in a lot of facets of game development, this sort of thing is one of the more outstanding elements.
There's obviously some trick been used on 3DS that isn't necessary on, for instance, PS3. Taking out that trick might mean recoding though.
This isn't a defense. I think 30 seconds or even 15 is pretty heavy load time, and especially on a port. Just an attempt at finding a decent reason.
And there's still 2 months until the game releases, during which the game could be polished. I wouldn't get too worried right now.
I'm sure it's a little spookier than RE6, anyway.
And I think a Perfect Dark for WiiU?
But then I read... :(
