BioShock Vita's non-event isn't necessarily a bad thing

With the news going around that VitaShock is still merely an idea and Mr Levine is waiting for Take Two to sign cheques to ensure it’s development, Jacobo at Digibytes.me really thinks that fans of this idea need to calm down a bit. VitaShock simply won’t be a system seller.

Better yet who cares what digibytes says. The damn press is the mortal enemy of every gamer on the planet.

Sony cares, Irrational cares, 2K especially cares. It's fair to say it's taken so long because they don't see it being commercially viable. Would I still play it if it came out? Hell yes I would. It's just unlikely.

The problem with the Vita (and the issue the PSP had) was that publishers look at the device as a "me too" gaming system. The games released for it are lesser incarnations of their console brethren. I'm not at all bashing the system, but unless they can market amazing games like Gravity Rush to appeal to the masses, it isn't going to get the required funding or full support from its developers.

The DS is treated by Nintendo as one of their strongest platforms, and when they release a Mario title on each system, they're both polished and treated the exact same way. The Vita has too much potential to be sitting with only a few great titles.

I agree, that's what I was also trying to get at. I'm not hating on the system at all, I love my Vita.
