Metal Gear Rising: Revengeance Review - GamesReviews

"I have to admit that I didn’t have high expectations for Metal Gear Solid Rising: Revengeance… (Especially with a title that uses most of the english alphabet). Over the years, the series has deeply developed Solid Snake, a character we all know, admire and love and Revengeance seemed like a long-shot. In theory, this game shouldn’t work. Set in the Metal Gear Solid universe, we would normally expect a game with an intense and confounding story, stealth based gameplay as well as quite a few hours of intriguing cutscenes. Now that I have actually played Revengeance and everything it has to offer, I can gladly say that I have never been more pleasantly surprised!" (Metal Gear Rising: Revengeance, PS3, Xbox 360) 9/10

The more hear about this game the more I want it. I thought it was just going to be a dumb spinoff.

Somewhat the same...

It's been getting so many 8-9's and above. It's doing REALLY damn well, much better than anyone could've anticipated.

I was in CEX the other day and the guy behind the counter was telling me how bad it was and how much everybody hates it because it isn't Metal Gear.

Some people wanted it to fail, regardless of quality!

Definitely well worth checking out though. If you're not 100% on it, find a way to rent it. You'll easily finish it in a weekend and you might just be surprised how much you enjoy it.

This is everything that is just good fun about games. I think it's up there with some of the best action games ever. It took me a while to really dig in, even though I took to it pretty quick. Platinum always seems to give you a lot of layers that serve different interesting functions, and then a really malleable way to blend them all together seamlessly. The more you play and combine the layers, the deeper the game gets. Their games just feel right.

And finally a challenge where the enemies really come at you and want you dead as soon as possible. It's such a blast. Platinum has a big supporter in me. They just know how to make games fun. Now add weapon switching!
