Take a look at the first cinematic trailer for Assassin's Creed IV: Black Flag.
Update: Alternate video (plus download link) included at the source.
Wow I can't wait for this.
You can't wait to support the bastardization of a good franchise that had the potential to be amazing? I guess I'll also get it after it sees a big price drop.

Historical fiction franchise... that continues to explore the realm of historical fiction? A bastardization?
"Historical fiction franchise... that continues to explore the realm of historical fiction? A bastardization?" I guess I should've added the word "possibly even more" before saying bastardization. Assassin's Creed was a passable game that had many problems along with a great premise. Assassin's Creed 2 was a great game, and every single release that came after it turned out to be utter disappointment. I'm just not getting my hopes up anymore. I fell in for their bull- for the last time with Assassin's Creed 3.
That's why I've not played AC3 yet. I couldn't help myself to get the other series because I had wanted to play Ezio's story without being spoiled. With that over? I have no attachment and can be patient and wait for them in the Walmart $19.99 bin, lol.
Whatever. Your taste sucks, Blacktric. I wouldn't be so forward about it except you stated your opinion as if it was some kind of fact, when it clearly isn't. All of the Assassin's Creed games are great. Easily some of the best gaming experiences I have had this generation. Especially AC3.
This will be a great game. Can't wait.
Did you guys notice this. At 1.55min it show for which consoles it coming. PS3, 360, WiiU and also PS4! October 29th 2013. So I hope the PS4 will arrive in October already.
Coming out on PC and PS4. Oh decisions decisions.
Already naysaying before it's even released. I didn't like the third game, but give them a freaking break. Remember how great the first game was? No, me neither.
"Call of Creed"
I was expecting to hate this the second i saw it. But i can understand the idea behind it, He could be running his on assassins guild off of the pirate boat. Hopefully this time you will be an Assassins not a revenge filled whineo fighting a war.
Well shiver me timbers !!
Well that settles it then after watching it I'm not getting that seqeul feeling....it's basicaly what Revelations and Brotherhood were to AC2 Why call it AC4...honestly they are messing up the franchise here. They could of done this one AC3: Black Flags then the second one could of been about Haytham
I'll give you that Revelations didn't actually reveal much at all, but Brotherhood was an awesome entry. We got to explore a city that was the heart of Western Civilization for several centuries. I greatly enjoyed that.
Oh I'm not saying it wasn't a good entry it's just this title is AC4 is basicaly a sub title for AC3. They should of left AC4 for <SPOILERS> the trilogy where Juno takes control of the world and they have to find a way to stop her.
common sense guy, it's not a spin off since it is a new hero.
@galest Yeah but he's still more connected to Connor/Haytham so it's not moved on that much Besides your going to have to use Desmond to view his memory and <SPOILER> with him being dead and all how is it going to work. They should of had a brand new character to view the memories
is that PS4 real time in-game graphics?
i love assassins creed series but they should really kill off the desmond parts i find them so corny and i always try fly through those scenes so i can get back to assassinating people
I feel like AC3 just came out like 10 minutes ago...
I'm honestly exhausted of the raping of Assassins Creed. It's getting ridiculous, truly....but Pirates, hidden treasures, ports, the open sea, Pirates of the Caribbean like ship battles....this is looking too good to pass up and I hate myself for that. lol
The naval missions in Assassin's Creed 3 were the best thing about AC3. But I think I'll get this game down the road. I need a break from the Assassin's Creed series.
I know right that was the best part of about AC3 and i'm glad that bastard Connor is not in it. I truly wish if the PS4 version comes out it looks close to that CGI but i doubt it this soon.
Why so much hate for a fictional character?
@Genuine Hate? He didn't like Connor, who was literally a bastard.
@Genuine-User Because all his character consists of is whining and bitching. Nothing really likeable about him at all.
Hm...bought ACIII and couldn't stand Haytham so much that I didn't even reached the Connor part :(
I think I'm going to pick up AC3 when this comes out. By that point, the price should be just right and it'll likely be on sale. Then I'll pick this one up when AC5 comes out. Seeing as I'm not the BIGGEST fan of the series but I do enjoy them, it's a great way to save money while still enjoying the game.
How is my purchasing habit stupid? What the hell is it to you if I don't buy a game at launch and enjoy it later down the line? Eat a dick.
I wonder if there are going to be big cities in this? I can't imagine it just being naval battles and going around to small islands looking for treasure.
It looks like there'll be some coastal cities. I would imagine they won't be huge, but they'll be big enough to keep you entertained.
That's what people thought about AC3, but there was still plenty of city to explore.
Very good theme. I can't wait.
AC trailers always impress, it's a shame the gameplay fails to live up to expectation. I really enjoyed Brotherhood but the series has only taken steps back since then. Assassin's Creed 3 was a complete disappointment.
looks like they added underwater swimming, that won't end well. AC just needs to be redone from scratch, they keep incrementally adding features, the games have no focus anymore.
AC:Liberation had underwater swimming.
I haven't even finished AC3 yet. Lost interest. Went on to the new Tales game and Ni No Kuni.
which tales game are you talking about? i better not have missed Xillia damn it :P
He might be playing Tales of Graces. Good game by the way. Hubbert is a boss...after the time jump anyway. lol.
I wonder how much difference there will be between the current gen and next gen.
not much, mostly import it the ps4 and xbox 720
Wow someone has a time machine..... did you pick up this weeks lottery numbers while you were there.... or did you play ps4 all day?
Major difference will be resolution. Just don't expect it to push the console. http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-D... http://img.ebw.gr/13535/cal...
It just makes you think how long have they been working on this. They said it took 3 to 4 years to finish AC3 now this. Is it going to be another add on like brotherhood and revelations I think so because they just haven't had the development time to make another true blown sequel. Only time will tell but I hope i'am wrong.
I feel like the majority of the time spent with AC3 was building the AnvilNext engine. I could be wrong, but the climbing, fighting, and overall physics for AC3 were pretty much different from all the others. So maybe they spent like, 2 years developing the engine, then another year or so on the actual game.
Ubisoft have multiple studios working on AC games at all time. Revelations had contributions from like six studios. Also, Ubisoft Montreal, their largest studio, probably has several separate teams working in different titles.
I've seen worse trailers, and this one is obviously well done, but what I really need to see is this game in action. I don't want Assassin's Creed to turn into Call of Duty... take your time Ubisoft! Make something special, not something repetitive.
You think Pirates world repetitive theme? Good one. Many zombie games boring and repetitive.
can someone fix the link ?
Watch it here: https://cdn.anonfiles.com/1...
i never played any AC game, am im missing anything?
You're missing... a lot. Simply put, play at least 1, 2, and 3. Brotherhood and Revelations can be summed up on the internet. I mean, if you're interested in the game after the first two, then by all means play Brotherhood and Revelations. The story is quite convoluted, so skipping ahead to this upcoming one would be quite confusing.
Respect for answering a legitimate question without making the poster seem like an idiot. *Bubble for being helpful*
idk I played 1 & 2 and skipped 3 they were too repetitive IMO, never liked em'... I'm on this article to see what the hype is about for this game...
If you're interested, my guess is you can just jump into AC4, the story in AC while appreciated by some is mostly rubbish. *SPOILERS* the end of AC3 is basically the same as the mass effect 3 ending, but just way, way worse. I think it didn't get as much backlash as ME3, because the rest of AC's story was stupid to. EDIT: AC2 is a fun game though, if you can get it on the cheap, you should try it.
Where do you get comparing AC3's ending to Mass Effect 3's ending? You're all over the place dude.
both games end with the hero having to make a binary choice coming out of no where. after the choice, the hero ends up dying by being sucked up into some kind of light (there is a variation in color, though). the choices can be summed up by: 1. let everything die your firends included, but then, the people left are free 2. not everything dies, your friends survive, but everything still sucks. the only difference would be that in AC3 the choice is made for you, hence me saying it's even worse. EDIT: apparently, I'm not the only one on this site to think it: http://n4g.com/user/blogpos...
Well, they'll seem outdated and repetitive if you play them now.
not much.. just go and check videos about the Illuminati and Masons on how they control the world right know and how everything start and you will get a moe deep true history behind AC.. AC suks AC2 was fun! god! thanks to Kojima helping the rest just sucks or where w/e I have not play any after AC2 but one explain how they assassin mayor powerful people to influence and take their power, how they start controlling the "banks" and other stuff.. witch right now is owned by them the Mason ..yes people the federal reserve is privet owned by this people not the government and they also control out news, tv, movies, music and videos games in most or main areas of it! plus our food supply etc.. their world is to totally control you! me! us! they don't care about us and we are been used by them. they are satanic..
meh...cg trailers always look good same was the case with AC3...
and every other AC trailer. I love them.
ehh.. that wasn't his point
Yep, and AC3 was a great game. Bring the dislikes.
I actually liked Ac3, probably because for the whole series I've been ignoring the future/Desmond storyline because frankly its boring. The ending was terrible too. I think they just should have made Assassin's creed about the actual assassins rather then Desmond. I also didn't mind Connor. He was a good break from Ezio who after being in 3 games pretty much bored me to death at the end. There was just too much of him. Connor's character is very believable being that he was a naive young man who had his tribe threatened several times. Seriously who isn't full of them-self at that age demographic.
I didn't realize how many gamers disliked AC3, I had the impression I was getting quite a few disagrees when I was telling people that AC3 was not good.
