Xbox LIVE Gold free next weekend

Next weekend, Microsoft will be holding a massive free Xbox LIVE Gold event for all to join in.

The Xbox LIVE Gold Unlock Weekend upgrades anyone with an Xbox LIVE account to Gold for a full weekend between 8th – 10th March for absolutely free.

Unlike other free weekends, however, this one will feature lots of additional extras.

Yes I noticed that also. Trying to win back some Xbox fans who are tired of their constant bulls***. Not trolling or anything, but MS don't really give anything back to their fans, and now this seems more like an act of desperation than a thank you. Coincidence that next-gen is knocking on our door? I think not. They are going to have to do a whole lot more than this to make me buy a '720'.

They are probably just trying to get a count of how many systems would be online if they made it free. Thats invaluable data. It would let them know what type of in flux they will be looking at if they launch the nextbox with free MP online.

They could also be trying to fire sale a lot of the old content because they know when they announce the nextbox all that old stuff slows down even more.

I'm not sure what they plan on doing next gen. What the SONY loons and MS haters fail to realize is that in the time of the 360 the market landscape and technology wasnt there to just give away access. Sony and Nintendo had to because XBL was so much better. The 360 was one of the first big commercial products that put netflix on your home TV. Everyone since then have followed suit. I know Ps3 had it because they had a browser but it was optimized like the experience on the 360.

They have the big prime time Xbox Live event before Family Guy on Fox tomorrow night, supposed to be some sick Gears Judgment reveals and other things.

The games they have on sale this week were just insane, and free Xbox Live Gold for the weekend definitely has me thinking along the same lines as you. Something big is coming!
