Five Unwanted Assassin's Creed Eras

Paul from Denkiphile: "With the freshly announced Assassin’s Creed IV: Black Flag, we feel there is enough room for speculation other possibilities of time periods Ubisoft may allow us to visit. We like that Ubisoft has created worlds based upon virtually untouched pieces of history in the realm of video games and hope they keep it that way. While there are many time periods we would like to see, there are many we wouldn’t; some of them due to being referenced too many times in popular culture." (Assassin's Creed IV: Black Flag, Culture, Dev, Industry, PC, PS3, PS4, Wii U, Xbox 360, Xbox One)

"Not only are there far too many ninja games"
Theirs not alot of ninja games, but their is a ninja series and that's about it.

The Tenchu / Shinobido series have always been plagued with technical issues, broken gameplay mechanics and poor stories (and still, Tenchu 3 is one of my favorite games !), it would be interesting to see how Ubisoft could reinvigorate the stealth ninja game genre.

(and I must admit, I've always loved the feudal Japan era)

I've played the Vita demo of Shinobido 2: Revenge of Zen and it was awesome I can't wait to buy it.

There are a lot of ninja games.
And a lot of samurai games.

Thing is, most of 'em aren't any good.

"far too many ninja games" ............ no. Maybe he confused Ninja for Marine/Space Marine type of games.

no one wants references to slavery?

AFAIK, is an important theme on Liberation.

These are actually spot-on the places I wouldn't want an AC game to go. Also kind of Victorian England.

enland would be awesome

Only one I agree with is the WW2 one, because there are a lot of games in that setting. Besides, we already have The Saboteur, an open world game in WW2 with a guy climbing buildings and killing nazis (which was awesome, by the way).

I have to disagree on the WW2 mention. It would actually be very exciting to play as an assassin during this era. Not one who participate in battles such as Iwo Jima and Normandy, but a behind-the-scenes approach.

There have been several rumors concerning Ubisoft's possible approach to WW2. Arguably the most prominent being that the assassin would be a European female who uncovers a devious plot behind the scenes while most of the men are away on the battlefield. And come on, how can you say no to assassinating Hitler?

I would be fine with an AC set in an earlier China. Not necessarily going so far as to have the main character be a ninja (that's a little ridiculous), but an assassin. Being Asian and an assassin does not translate into being a ninja :P

id like to see a WWII setting. it would be like The Saboteur whuch i very much enjoyed as it was more or less AC in WWII

Ninja would be great cause, you know, it would actually be STEALTHY. Something the franchise is lacking since the first, in my opinion.

"I am not so sure many people would be fond of a video game with references to slavery." AC3 had tons of references to slavery and freedom and I didn't see anyone complain about it so thats a terrible excuse. Assassins Creed set in the Civil War would be amazing especially on next gen consoles
I agree that WW2 is too modern so they should do an AC game set in World War 1

There are so many interesting time periods in history that Ubisoft could choose like London in the 1660s during the Great Plague and Great Fire of London or the French revolution in the 1790s would be great too, or the War of 1812 here in the US, the freaking British burned down the white house and were literally just a few feet away from killing President Madison..that would be an AMAZING set piece if Ubisoft decided to make a game during the War of 1812 but NOPE playing as Haytham Kenway's dad is the best we get...*sigh*

An Assassin's Creed set in in Brazil, as an assassin that knows Capoeira would be cool.
