Editorial: Will Japanese Devs Recover Next Generation?

Western designers really are ruling the industry right now, but might Japanese developers use the next generation as a springboard to a comeback...? (Next-Gen)

In my honest opinion, Japanese devs brought some of the best :
RPGs : Ni No Kuni, Xenoblade, Demon's Souls/Darks Souls, Resonance of Fate, Pandora's Tower. Fighting Games : Blazblue. Persona 4 Arena. Racing Games : GT6. Stealth/Action game : MGS4. Beat-em up : Bayonetta, Vanquish. Puzzle-platformers : Catherine...of this generation. They don't have to recover from anything but once again, this is MY opinion.

I wasn't aware that Japanese developers needed a comeback...

Yes. I don't know just how utterly delusional someone has to be to write such an article.

Japanese developers created the top selling games of this gen like the 80 million selling Wii Sports. No 'Western' developer has a game that even comes remotely close to those types of sales.

This gen has been dominated by Japanese hardware and software. The Wii and its first party titles for the first half of this gen. The PS3 and its first party titles for the second half of this gen. Even back before Sony dumped Microsoft into last place in worldwide sales the PS3 first party exclusives had sales of more than double all of Microsoft's 'Western' focused developer first party efforts.

The two Japanese developers who whored themselves out to Microsoft and tried to turn their existing franchises 'Western focused' this gen, Square Enix and Capcom, have crashed and burned in sales.
