Nerdluster: Professor Layton and the Miracle Mask takes multiple steps forwards while also taking several back. New gameplay elements are introduced to the franchise, which are nice touches and help to separate the title from its predecessors. The puzzles, though, which are the meat of the game, ended up feeling uninspired overall compared to previous titles. The storyline presents a fun way to discover Professor Layton’s past, but the mystery element is not as strong, nor interesting as previous titles. While still a good and overall enjoyable title, Professor Layton and the Miracle Mask ends up not living up to its predecessors, and doesn't quite hit its mark.
