Monster Hunter 3 Ultimate 3DS Online Multiplayer Workaround Coming To The West

Nintendo Europe has confirmed that the Monster Hunter 3 Ultimate online mulitplayer workaround for Nintendo 3DS is coming to the West. The Monster Hunter 3 Ultimate Packet Relay Tools for Nintendo 3DS will be made available as a free download on the Nintendo eShop on Wii U. The company states that this application allows players of Monster Hunter 3 Ultimate on Nintendo 3DS to play the game online by using a Wii U console connected to the Internet via the Wii LAN Adapter or Wii U LAN Adapter (to be sold separately). Using this set-up, one Nintendo 3DS system can connect to the Wii U console, and play Monster Hunter 3 Ultimate online with other players. Please note that while the Wii U console is providing this function for the Nintendo 3DS system, it is not possible to simultaneously use the Wii U console for playing Wii U software or to connect locally to another Nintendo 3DS system. A copy of Monster Hunter 3 Ultimate for Wii U is not required. (3DS, Monster Hunter 3 Ultimate, Wii U)

What is the point of this if your Wii U will not be playable during this? Why not just use cross-save instead?

its for people who only buy it on the 3ds and not on the WiiU I would think kind of like the ADHOC party on the PS3

This is what bothers me a lot. I am buying it on wii u and getting the a 3ds just so my wife and I can play. But damn I wish we could just go online with both versions at the same time so we can play with friends. Is that really so hard I am so surprise that the 3ds version was made with no online function.

no handheld monster hunter has had online gameplay just adhoc

@ Sloth: That doesn't make it right though. This is 2013, not 2003.

They honestly should have this working on the Wii as well. If you already own a Wii U, you can just play the game on that. It's nearly pointless unless the app is functional with other games that have only local wifi (which I doubt).

This was a confirmed buy after reading this new's...then you told me I needed a Wii U -_-'

Honestly they should have just put online on the 3DS version anyway, it's the only reason I don't plan on picking it up

It seems like Capcom really wants people to pick up both versions in conjunction with one another. The thing is they've done everything except bundle the damn games together (sans for the UK).
