Deus Ex: Human Defiance Is Not A Game, It's The New Movie

DSOGaming writes: "Unfortunately everyone, the new Deus Ex trademark that was spotted a few days ago is not about a new game, but about the new movie that will be based on this game. Yeap, Deus Ex: Human Defiance is - most probably - the name of that film according to the following whois information." (PC, PS3, Tag Invalid, Xbox 360)

Its more Deus Ex so its a good thing, I dont really see how they can screw the film up, Im sure Hollywood will try though

Its a bad thing if its a bad movie. If they can get on par or better than the PoP movie I'll be happy :)
Kalowest  +   536d ago
PoP is one of the best game to movie adaptions, hopefully Deus Ex turns out that good.

Deus Ex deserves a good movie.

If it does just watch Ghost in the Shell. Classic cyber punk anime that share similar themes with Deus Ex. Heck there are even GITS easter egs in Deus Ex

If by Easter Eggs you mean everything about Gunther Herrman, I agree.

Yeah I thought so and worried if Thief 4(being developed by the same team) was shelved. Tho need to hear more about Thief 4.

That sucks I was hoping for a new Deus Ex game hopefully the movie is good.

Not really "unfortunate." If they're making a movie their going to put out a game too. Maybe not hand in hand (hopefully not, that never seems to work out), but if they're confident enough in the IP to make a feature film, they're confident enough to make an other game.

the movie is apparently based off Human Revolution, so no game.
Root  +   536d ago
Whats the point of that

Just call it Deus Ex Human Revolution if thats the case, if they are basing it off the prequel game

Incoming flop because it will be written and directed by people who have never played the games before....or games in general.
ironfist92  +   536d ago
A change of subtitle will help people search it online better
Root  +   536d ago
So people can't search

"Deus Ex Movie" or "Deus Ex Human Revolution Movie"

The first thing which would pop up would be a link from IMDB

It's not gonna be a good movie. I'm not being pessimistic, this is a fact. It's going to be an overblown, stupid action-packed cash-in blockbuster mess that'll miss the point altogether and will have zero subtlty. Despite the fact that it's a good game, and often quite an intelligent game, the moment it hits the big screen it'll lose everything that makes it great. Just taking the plot of a game and making it into a film rarely works and that's usually because the writing / plot of the game actually isn't very good but is complemented and made better by gameplay. No doubt this film will be a really cheesy, stupid, juvenile sci-fi action film with loads of "awesome" gadgets and "cool" violence.

Also it's not Square-Enix' fault that a new Deus Ex game isn't getting made, it's Eidos. I'm not even sure why I'm speaking in such an accusatory way anyhow, I'm perfectly happy to wait a few more years for a new Deus Ex game.

MooseyXTC  +   536d ago

Stop...stop making video game movies...please just stop. Take that 100 million or so budget for the movie and just create a new game...everyone will be happier that way.
TheWolverine  +   536d ago
I didn't ask for this

There is already so much that could go wrong with this movie.

'A high octane roller coaster ride starring Jake Gyllenhaal as Adam Jensen, Stella Hudgens as Malik, and Cleverly directed by Michael Bay' ewwwww.

I'd prefer a game. I've been hurt by game movies before, I'm still trying to get over street fighter.
