This is not the first time he mentioned he want to make a Contra reboot. Sounds like he's serious about it.

How about stop taking all the old classic games and trying to modernize them by making everything a fps or 3D?

I feel the same way. If they keep the original game 2D, but upgrade the graphics with great detail to make it look realistic, this game would be incredible.
They should do this with all the great games, that's what I've been waiting for this gen & hoping for it the next-gen. Instead of just doing HD remakes(DMC,GOW ect.) Just think if they would've make all the God Of Wars up to date with GoW3 in a Ultimate non-stop play through 1-3. That would be epic!!!

Castlevania Symphony of the Night will always be a shining example of this. Actually ended up playing this on an emulator recently and it still holds up!

Classic Contra (slightly modernised) could be awesome, and whilst they're at it how about another side scrolling Castlevania not emphasising multiplayer this time (although gotta say it has got potential).
