Why an Experimental Video Game Is More Anticipated Than Sony's Playstation 4

Sony's announcement last week of the upcoming release of its next-generation video game console, the PlayStation 4, went exactly as expected: The company's executives took the floor of Manhattan's Hammerstein Ballroom, talked about the new machine's extended RAM and redesigned controller, and left very few fans and reporters moved. Instead, whatever excitement surrounded Sony originated from a rumor that the company would finally deliver a long-awaited game called The Last Guardian. (Culture, PS3, PS4, Sony, The Last Guardian)

Considering the game is likely to release on PS4 then anticipating it is the same as anticipating the console. Well, as far as Sony is concerned they will have a sale either way.

Because we've been waiting for the damn game since the announcement - the announcement! - of the freakin PS3!

I mean, wasn't this suppose to be a launch window if not launch title?!

No. It was announced in 2009. It was first hinted that Team Ico was working on something in 2008.

I remember that it actually had a release date in 2012 if I remember correctly...

maybe Sony wasn't impressed with the sales of ICO Shadow Colossus HD Collection.

Or it wasn't done

It had a release date in 2011, then 2012. Now it's in limbo as far as we are all concerned.

I think it might be a PS4 title now based on the length of time since we last heard anything solid and several confirmations that Team Ico was working through technical issues with the hardware. If Santa Monica were drafted in to assist a long time ago, it should be well on its way to completion by now.

Time will tell - I will buy it for PS3 or PS4, whichever they decide on. It would definitely be grander on PS4.

I was let down to not see the Last Guardian. If they had ended the conference with last guardian gameplay on PS3 and PS4 I feel it would have set a different tone for the future.

i was excited for this games since I heard about it, and not seeing it launch on the PS3 sucked. But if they bring to the PS4, it be a complete overhaul visually and interactively.
