What's holding back Crysis 3?

Crytek founder Cevat Yerli is frustrated. When Gamasutra asks him about the fact that Crysis 3 isn't making the same kind of splash as its predecessors, it's obvious that this is a raw topic for him. The original game sits at a 91 Metacritic, while the PC version of the sequel has an 86. As of this writing, Crysis 3 scores a 78 on PC.

Crysis was an open world sandbox type of game and now it's a linear console game!!!

The MP is a lot better as Crytek took some things from the Warface MP!!!

The trolling of this guy become so predictable in ALL articles of Crysis 3 that it's not even funny anymore. Anyway, I really don't see why there seems to be quite a bit of hate for this game. I think it is one best games 2013 so far.

Farcry 3 is a real successor of Farcry.

Cannot say this for Crysis 2 & 3.Its an entire different game style , which are not successor.

Just count the number of one star rating of Farcry 3 and Crysis 2 on Amazon.

Eh, I've enjoyed it. It is what I expected it to be: a simple sci-fi shooter with great visuals. The story has a bit more depth this time around too. I wasn't expecting it to reinvent the genre.

The gameplay. Graphics wise on PC it looks incredible, but I wasn't over keen on the actual game. I spent more time looking at how great it looked.

What do people mean by the gameplay is so terrible? What aspect of it? Being able to cloak like the Predator and use powerful weapons and now an awesome bow is pretty badass. The story of Crysis 3 is mediocre, but that's not a shocking thing in the FPS genre. It's far from perfect, but I thought it was an improvement over Crysis 2 in most respects. I definitely like that the maps are a bit more open compared to Crysis 2. They still need to sharpen up the AI quite a bit.

It's not that the gameplay is terrible because it's not. It's just that it's only average. That was fine in Crysis 1 because it was a more open ended game. Howwever, with Crysis 2 and 3 they're much more linear which kind of makes the average gameplay much more noticeable. The graphics are amazing, the story has been slowly coming along, but Crytech needs more inovation within the core gameplay(something most recent FPS games suffer from) that's why I think games like Bioshock Infinte are so anticiapted because it looks innovative and fresh.

If I would complain about anything in Crysis 3 it would be the multiplayer. The games MP is actually pretty good except for two things. There isn't hardly enough people online playing which means matches can take a long time to find(PS3), and damn why does everone run around with the freaking shotgun?It wouldn't be that bad if players using the shotgun couldn't cloak or even if in armor mode they made it were you could take two shots from the shotgun, as it is now it's just very frustrating sometimes.

I'll explain the Shotgun because i found out this secret since crysis 2 beta. In Crysis MP when you find an enemy, usually they are within 5 ft of you, either because they are hiding while cloaked or because they are running so fast and you bump into each other. People may use the rifles or machine guns, but what weapon is best used for close combat? A Shotgun! It saves the bullets and gets it done quicker without having to spray in a circle when you see someone.

EA and their hard-on for consoles, which is ironic considering they started out as PC game developers.

Crysis 3 looks pretty on PC but it is, at its core, a console game and thus designed around the limtations of consoles (no destructible environments, poor A.I., etc.).

Crysis 1 is still the best. That is really all there is to it. I think people are tired of the NY scene, and yes, it had plants and overgrowth covering the setting but still...

People wanted to see more for Crysis 3. The graphics at this point are a standard for Crysis. No longer can they live off of that feature when they release games...It's played out.
