Star Wars 1313 on hold, claims new report

Development of Star Wars 1313 is on hold, a new report has claimed.

Sources familiar with developer LucasArts told Kotaku development "has been frozen or put on hold" in the wake of Disney's eye-watering $4.05 billion purchase of all things George Lucas last November. (Next-Gen, PC, PS3, PS4, Star Wars 1313, Xbox 360, Xbox One)

This wouldn't be a surprise because Disney now owns the rights. I heard they were halting all expanded universe projects because they want to assess them and see if they would make proper stand alone movies in the future. Cant have a video game as canon exploring the world of Boba Fett if they are planning on making a movie doing the same thing.

I hope it arrives on next gen consoles day 1. If not i will be sad.

Technically with all the books out, isn't the expanded universe already screwed Disney over to an extent? I hope you're right though, I really hope Disney isn't putting projects like this on hold to try and focus on giving Star Wars a more family friendly image again.

They're doing a 7,8, and 9. The books -post ROTJ- start literally minutes after the final battle to about 20 years. So its safe to say its going to get retconned to hell.

Question is; Who will be the target audience for the new movies. Star Wars would never be rated R and Disney has done PG-13, so its possible to go with a more mature theme. Disney can't be any worse the Lucas.

As for the game, it really depends on Disney. I honestly have no clue what their intentions are for Star Wars.

Personally I would like to see OT/New Republic era rather than the prequel era.

We will burn Disney to the ground if they can this game.

If true, what a bummer! I have such high hopes for this game.

Well then how about a next-gen Battlefront, or Jedi Knight. Or just a HD port would suffice.

Gasp a Lucasarts game that is undergoing dev issues? Man that never happens.

For a company that practically prints money with it's respective licenses, Lucasarts is the poorest excuse for a development house I have ever seen.

Hear, Hear.

Should be hard to make a crap SW game, but LA manages it more often than not.

NEED a third entry in Battlefront and Force Unleashed!
aliengmr  +   760d ago
Battlefront 3, sure. But FU2 effectively tanked the franchise.

Need Battlefront, even at the expense of SW:TFU

BF3 would practically print money. MANY have been asking and asking and asking for it. Only to be snubbed and to get Force Unleashed instead (bug ridden and crap comparatively).

Imagine if you had MILLIONS of potential customers requesting you make a square widget, and instead you make a circle widget (that nobody asked for or wants).

I just don't get it!?!?

Leave Star Wars 1313 alone...leave it alone. All it wants to do is bring something beautiful into our lives. Leave it alone.
