In a perfect timing fashion, going along with today's Monster Hunter Mondays (streaming the MH3U eShop demo), we've found a couple of very useful tutorials made by YouTuber ArekkzG.
Although his videos are rather short, they manage to explain the basics of each weapon class very well. Don't expect to come out an expert just by watching these videos, but they are definitely a great place to start!
